I usually do a rough drawing of the fish, whale or other sea creature before creating, just so I can get an idea of the shape and position of the body and fins before attempting my own interpretation in clay. Here is a recent drawing of the yellow boxfish, a small trinket dish based on the drawing and the last picture shows my sculpture version. Both the trinket dish and the sculpture found their new homes at the recent Starglaze festival.. but will definitely be on the list to make again! ...
