When simplifying the human body into shapes, you can choose to either use rectangular shapes or circular shapes. The rectangular shapes allows you to easily recognize the dimensional area of the body with their exact, sharp edges. The circular shapes makes predicting the flow of the body and its silhouettes with their smooth curvy lines. Choose and draw with whichever is most comfortable and easiest for you!!

When the upper body is bent at half, the back is represented by the big curved line from the neck to the pelvis, and the front is the line from the chest and folds at the belly. If the upper body is bent further, the flow will be the same, but the thorax area will seem shorter because of the perspective.

When drawing a foot from the front view, rather than drawing the thumb toe inwards, draw the pinky toe outwards. This also applies to when drawing from the back view (when the foot isn’t really in an angle).

When drawing the chest area, think pf the ribs as some kind of egg shape. The side profile of the ribs are tilted slightly and ‘squished’ a little down.

since the possibilities of hand poses are so diverse, the easy way to make them all look natural ( assuming, since its not stated ), is to draw them within ‘the range’

The upper body divides into 3 big sections: chest, stomach and hips.

When drawing a front view of a hand holding an item such as a pole, always leave a gap from the palm and the pole for the ‘start’ of the fingers

The size of the fingernails are the half of the last segment of the finger. The thumbnail is the largest, pinky nail smallest and the rest three are similar sizes.

Depending on the size of the chest, the length of the line under the chest should be changed.
