My voice kills. His touch silences my song. Together we'll either save the world...

Or destroy it.

I once believed sirens had mermaid tails, crustacean companions, and you know...weren’t real.

How wrong I was.

Turns out sirens have wings, a talking owl spirit guide, and are very, very real.

Not only that, they’re cursed with wings to soar the skies, searching for the lost goddess Persephone, because it was their fault she was kidnapped by Hades.

My family’s fault.

Centuries later, only a few sirens remain. And apparently I’m the one destined to break the curse to save them all.

Me. Korrina Lore. A girl from Brooklyn. An artist in training. Second in Command of our private school's prank gang.

Destiny can bite me.

Fans of Holly Black, Cassandra Clare, and Jennifer Armentrout will ♥ this original, award-winning Siren series with a twist.

Editorial Reviews:

4.5 Stars from InD'Tale Magazine:

Korrina Lore has a secret. Her voice can kill. She used to love to sing, but now she’s suffocated by fear. After four years of friends and family thinking she is crazy and having become riddled by the trauma, she finally learns the truth. She is a siren straight out of the Greek myths of old. When a talking owl arrives, warning Korrina of the world’s fate if she does not accept her destiny and place amongst the sirens, Korrina is torn. Should she sing, the one thing she promised she would never do again, to save the world? Meanwhile, her best friend Jared and new kid on the block Luke vie for her attention.

Kris Faryn has cultivated a fascinating drama that readers will not want to put down until every last word is devoured. While sirens are often depicted as mermaids, she takes the classic Greek portrayal of bird women and runs with it, crafting it into a modern high school world in a very believable way. The plot is fast paced and riveting. The story is wrapped up well, tying up loose ends but leaving the reader eager to begin the next book. Korrina has a lot of depth and is very well developed. Some other characters, though interesting, lack the dimensionality that Korrina possesses. But where character dimensionality falls a little flat, world building excels. For the reader who loves YA fantasy with a spunky heroine, Ms. Faryn is a must read.

Review

"Song of Destiny by Kris Faryn was a compelling and emotional read. It left me craving more.

Seventeen-year-old Korrina fights a constant compulsion to sing, a battle she refuses to lose because when she sings, people die. Her world shatters when she discovers she is a mythological Siren, and her destiny demands she use her song to kill. She has a decision to make. Should she walk into a future that seems preordained, or choose instead to save those she loves?

Exciting and fast paced, Song of Destiny is a winner." Nina Bangs, NEW YORK TIMES Bestselling Author

"Kris Faryn's debut really sings--an exciting heroine's journey with humor and heart." Jaye Wells, USA TODAY Bestselling Author

"Kris Faryn takes you on a mythological ride full of twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages until the very last, wonderfully written word." Jenn Windrow, author of The Redeeming Cupid Series

"The story sounded interesting but I was leery. Siren stories have been done, and poorly so. I'm happy to say this story stands out from them like a lightning bug in a summer evening. This story has fun, humor, adventure and danger. In a story like this you need perfect timing to relay the answers to the mysteries just right, and Kris does it beautifully." Song of Destiny is that treasure you stumble upon when you least expect it. I thought I knew a lot about sirens from other books I've read. Wrong! Korrine isn't your usual siren. Color me intrigued by this siren's song of death.

The author spins a totally original tale that keeps you guessing and wanting more with a fantasy novel that checks all the boxes for me. First love? Check. Hot hero? Check. A powerful girl coming into her own whether she wants it or not? Triple-threat check.

Author Kris Faryn is a siren herself with descriptions and dialogue that give you all the feels. "His lips warmed my skin against the crisp fall air and spread a spider web of tingles through my body. Ermahgawd." Start this book with plenty of reading time because you won't be able to put it down.

I want really expecting YA, but this is pretty good for that. It’s a little melodramatic and the myth is needs a little more detail, but it was enjoyable.

If you enjoy perilous danger, intense drama, agonizing angst, pulse-pounding action, nail-biting suspense, side-splitting humor, heartwarming romance, and a few mind-blowing plot twists that you'll never see coming, then this book is screaming your name. Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

I fell in love with the teenage heroine of this tale on page one. She is a delightfully real teenager struggling with the usual teenage problems - plus an unwanted and unnatural ability that Faryn adeptly manages to portray as just as real and believable as her struggles to fit in, escape from bullying, teenage hormones, and volatile emotions. I love how the magical elements unfold, and the mystery kept me guessing and turning pages. Beautifully and lyrically written, as well. Loved it!

I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. The blurb was intriguing, a retelling of the taking Persephone in a way, but the execution left a lot to be desired. I have read a lot of young adult books, but this one was a little too young for me. Korrina was a bit hard to understand as a character. She is in a gang that called Mischief and Mayhem, standing up for the victims of bullies but then on the other hand, the gang is also investigating a drug being sold/made in the school. The writing style was also had to read, in the end I did not finish.

Loved this first in a series. It takes the reader on the journey of Korrina who is trying to come to terms that she’s a siren while attempting to keep her life normal. But the fate of the world rests on the choices she makes.

Faryn does a masterful job of weaving mythology into this modern-day fantasy love story. Make sure you grab this book today!

I'm in love with this interpretation of sirens and other mythological creatures in a modern world! Korrina and the other characters are relatable and easy to root for as they navigate both realistic and fantastical challenges, and all the while, the writing style is tight and engaging. The ending leaves me wanting to jump right into the next book.

Love this book. I was hooked the minute Korrina meets Luke and everything gets a little . . . strange. I'm now a fan of Greek mythology. Can't wait to dive into Song of Wings!
