The Catalurchers are variants of the Caterkillers, although they are mainly modeled after inchworms rather than caterpillars. They have short, stubby pink bodies, as well as two retractable metal poles in the middle of their bodies that they use to retract and detract their bodies in order to slowly move along the ground. Their heads also look nearly the exact same as the heads of the Caterkillers as well.

In Knuckles' Chaotix, Catalurchers appear as enemies in Botanic Base. In gameplay, rather than undulating their way along the floor, they move by retracting and extending their body without performing any attacks. As such, Catalurchers seem to have no combat adaptations, making them only a danger if the player runs into them. The Catalurcher can easily be defeated if the player attacks their head, where upon their destruction they will release a Dark Ring.
