Rat is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics.

Appearance[]

Rat is a Mobian/Dingo and like most other Dingoes, he has brown fur, black eyes, and a big black nose. He has a small tuft of red hair. He has sharp fangs and is taller than adult Echidna. For attire, Rat wears a long sleeved turtleneck shirt, baggy green pants, brown boots, and a black eye patch over his right eye. His left eye has a scar vertically across it.

Personality[]

Rat, like most of the other Dingoes, is prejudiced against Echidnas, calling Knuckles ‘echidna garbage’ to his face, and he takes delight in toying with their lives, laughing when he frightened some Echidnas into thinking they were going to die.

Powers and abilities[]

Being a Field Commander, Rat has a higher level of authority among the ranks of the Dingo Regime.

History[]

Wanting to draw out the guardians into the open, Helmut Von Stryker contacted Rat via a computer and told him to take the Echidna hostages out to the city square as bait for the guardians. Rat asked whether the Echidnas should be alive or not, and Helmut gave him the authority to choose. While Rat chose to keep the Echidnas alive, he did toy with them, engaging in a fake-out execution for his own amusement. While laughing at the fear on the face of his hostages, Knuckles and Julie-Su showed up and took out his henchman, with Knuckles demanding Rat tell him where Helmut is, holding him by his shirt, but one of the echidna prisoners told Knuckles they could take Knuckles to where Helmut is. No longer needing assistance from Rat, Knuckles knocked him out with a punch to the dingo’s head.^[1]
