The Spire of Order is the main location in the Side Order campaign where the player goes to complete floors. It is the main location where the player can go to start missions. Like the rest of Inkopolis Square, the Spire of Order is a pale, ominous white.

Types of Goals[]

One of the goals is to sink the infinity-balls. In these goals, Agent 8 has to sink a set amount of infinity-balls. Fortunately, Acht says that the infinity-balls won't fall off the map. While this is happening, Battering Lentos and other Jelletons are spawning from unbreakable portals. The Lentos will go after any loose infinity-balls on the map, rather than focus on attacking Agent 8, and smack them around with their headbutts. This can sometimes prove beneficial with the Lentos knocking the infinity-balls into the goals for the player.

Another goal is taking out the Panicking Alla Mambos on the map, who act somewhat like their Tentakook Octarian counterparts, dropping Splat Bombs as they flee, and getting bogged down in Agent 8's ink should they steer into it while escaping. Other Jelletons will try to protect them as they spawn from unbreakable portals to attack Agent 8 and draw their attention away from the Alla Mambos.

A third goal is securing and holding Splat Zones for a certain amount of time. While this is happening, Jelletons will spawn from unbreakable portals to attack Agent 8, but the biggest threat is the Drizzling Capricciosos, who will quickly secure the zones with their ink if not eliminated quickly, and will hold position over the zones until splatted so Agent 8 can take them back. At each checkpoint while the zones are held by Agent 8, more dangerous Jelletons will spawn to try and take Agent 8 out, including Lentos with the Capricciosos, Springing Spiccatos, or Whirling Accelerandos on their backs, alongside the Towering Nobilmente for long-range suppressive fire, Gushing Trionfales to launch Splat Bombs and Toxic Mist at Agent 8 to force them out of the zones, and Spawning Accordos to torment Agent 8 with a barrage of Homing Arpeggios to force them out of keeping control of the zones.

The fourth goal is taking out the Jelleton Portals to end their ability to spawn more reinforcements. Later floors will have larger portals that will require more concentrated fire to take them out. Inking their bases will help as if Agent 8 has the abilities to use Poison or Hindrance Ink, that can damage the portals over time to make things easier, but if left unattended, the portals will slowly heal their damage. When a portal is destroyed, it releases a Booyah Bomb-like explosion of ink, taking out any Jelletons caught in the blast radius to clear some room for Agent 8.

The fifth goal is escorting a turbine tower to the goal at the end of its path, similar to Tower Control. At each checkpoint, the tower will move much slower as the checkpoint tries to push it back, forcing Agent 8 to focus enough fire to push the tower through until it reaches the end of the checkpoint section. Securing a checkpoint will release a shockwave that pushes any nearby Jelletons away from Agent 8, giving them some breathing room. Jelletons spawn from unbreakable portals, but sometimes, the portals will shut down once the tower reaches a certain point, preventing further Jelletons from spawning. The tower also serves as a Sprinkler as it uses the ink it is pumped full of to cover the area around its track, giving Agent 8 some room to breathe and refill their ink tank to keep it going without leaving it unattended for too long.

Difficulty for the floor challenges range from one of four levels: Easy, Normal, Hard, and Rigorous. Should a floor option be tagged with a "Bonus" marker, that means that an extra objective for the floor can be completed for extra Membux, or Agent 8 will have all the empty slots in their Upgrade Palette completely filled in, but just for that floor, with extra Color Chips of a single color. If the floor is marked with "Danger", then an extra hindrance will be administered if that floor is selected. Such dangers include:

  • Lights Out: Agent 8 will have to fight the Jelletons and complete the objectives in the dark.
  • Ink Coating: The Jelletons have already filled every nook and cranny of the map with their ink, making it much harder for Agent 8 to move around until they replace it with their own ink.
  • No Drone: Pearl is unavailable to assist Agent 8 on the floor, so they'll have to complete the objectives without her.
  • No Item Drops: Aside from if Pearl is equipped to drop items and there are breakable crates with powerups in them on the map, no items will be dropped by the Jelletons upon being splatted.
  • Stronger Jelletons: The Jelletons on the floor are much stronger and more dangerous right off the bat, rather than getting there if left unattended for some time.
  • Arpeggio Barrage: Jelleton portals will constantly launch Homing Arpeggios at Agent 8 while completing the floor objectives.

Floors[]

Every goal takes place on a separate floor.

Trivia[]

  • The Spire of Order replaces the Splatoon 2 lobby tower.
  • Unlike the other single-player campaigns, Side Order is the only campaign that takes place above ground. The other campaigns: Octo Valley, Octo Canyon, and the Octo Expansion, all take place underground.
