The Aethon is a Terran Dominion battlecruiser commanded by Captain Hogarth that participated in the Battle of Adena.

History[]

Sometime after the One-Day War, Captain Hogarth and Commander Naderi took the Aethon to the planet Adena, hoping to loot the cache of jorium located on the surface. This however violated the demilitarized zone between the Terran Dominion and Daelaam, and Admiral Urun arrived with the Saalok's Eye to ensure the terrans did as they said in retrieving their cargo from Adena.[1]

However, on the surface, the force sent to retrieve the crystals encountered zerg of the Niadra Brood. With Naderi attempted to escape the planet (after having been infested with a larva), Urun shot the dropship down. This enraged Hogarth, who ordered the Aethon to fire upon the protoss carrier.[2] However, as the battle on the surface began to turn against the protoss, Saalok's Eye disengaged the Aethon.

Hogarth got word from the surface that the squad he had sent was under attack by the zerg, but had not retrieved any of the jorium. The captain disconnected communications with the ground team and had the Aethon leave orbit. Upon return to Dominion space, Hogarth reported they had been bribed to violate the DMZ, and that all forces on Adena had perished.[3]

Trivia[]

"Aethon" is the English spelling of the Greek word "aithôn." It roughly translates as "blazing" or "shining."
