The Dai Bendu Monastery,[4] also known as the Dai Bendu temple or the Ashiga Clan Stronghold while under the control of the Ashiga Clan, was a monastery on the Mid Rim Territories planet of Kijimi that served as the foundation of Kijimi City, belonging to the religious group of Dai Bendu. It served as a point of pilgrimage for the Lorrdian religious group known as the Brotherhood of the Beatific Countenance, that once occupied Quarter of the Beatific on the planet, and was guarded by the Dai Bendu temple guardians at some point. The monastery served as the main seat of power of Kijimi City through the ages, and when the Melitto crime family known as the Ashiga Clan arrived on Kijimi during the High Republic era they took over the monastery, using it as their stronghold until at least 3 ABY.

The monastery was destroyed along with the planet during the Destruction of Kijimi by the Sith Eternal with the Xyston-class Star Destroyer Derriphan of the Final Order fleet.[3]

Notes and references[]

  1. According to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary, the Dai Bendu Monastery was constructed on Kijimi a thousand years prior to the planet's destruction depicted in Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. As events of The Rise of Skywalker took place a year after the Starkiller Incident, as established by The Visual Dictionary, and because Star Wars: Galactic Atlas states that the Incident occurred in 34 ABY, the monastery was constructed around the time of 965 BBY.
  2. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary places the events of Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker one year after the Hosnian Cataclysm. As the Hosnian Cataclysm is dated to 34 ABY by Star Wars: Galactic Atlas, the events of The Rise of Skywalker, including the destruction of Kijimi, and therefore the Dai Bendu monastery, take place in 35 ABY.
