- "Hear it howl, for it was bred to scream, blood and fibers woven into a devouring beast. It was Gharj whose claws scored the canals of Seylott; Gharj who consumed the natives of Alzoc, and was worshiped for it. Gharj whom the alchemists of a younger age sought to emulate, but all would fail. Look upon Gharj, and die."
- ―Soa
Gharj was a monstrous Sithspawn-like creature that had been created by the Rakata of the Infinite Empire through Force alchemy. During the era of the Empire, it was unleashed upon numerous worlds; the warlord Soa claimed that Gharj's claws had carved the canals of the planet Seylott, and Gharj's attacks on the Talz of Alzoc III led the Talz to worship the Rakata. It was imprisoned along with Soa and his forces in the Eternity Vault on the planet Belsavis, and was slain when the Vault was breached during the Galactic War and Soa attempted to break free.
