The Shrikes was an Alliance to Restore the Republic special recon unit named after a bird of prey and led by Lieutenant Caluan Ematt. Their mission was to identify, secure and prepare new locations for the Alliance.[1] In the aftermath of the Battle of Yavin, the Shrikes scouted worlds including D'Qar and Mirrin Prime,[2] until they were ambushed on Taanab by Senior Commander Alecia Beck of the Imperial Security Bureau. The sole survivor of the recon unit, Ematt, fled to Cyrkon, where Han Solo and Chewbacca rescued him from Beck and a party of bounty hunters.[1]
