I can't believe it. I know the story of Mara Jade. I know the Yuuzhan Vong. I know the death of Chewbacca. I know of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances. I know Jacen Solo and Admiral Thrawn. I know of the future. And now it begins... all over again. Who's excited? Comm. Boots (talk) 02:32, March 11, 2015 (UTC)

  • I know we aren't supposed to talk about this kind of stuff on talk pages, but i'm pumped. - AV-6R7User talk:AV-6R7 02:35, March 11, 2015 (UTC)
What does any of this have to do with the article? A talk page should be used to discuss wiki-related matters and issues with an article. Also did you even read this novel or any of that EU garbage? It was all mediocre and/or awfully made with the exception of Thrawn. - Machinedramon22 (talk) 23:14, November 23, 2015 (UTC)

Darth Vader's lightsaber[]

Currently the page lists Vader's saber as mentioned only. However the Taris interlude is quite vague on wether it actually is his lightsaber or not. Is there an alternate way to label it? Maybe "possible appearance"? Overlordjeff (talk) 13:25, September 11, 2015 (UTC)

Why doesn't this page have a plot summary?[]

Hi guys, I'm just wondering why this book doesn't have a plot summary when all of the other books (as far as I've seen), as well as all episodes of shows, have plot summaries. If someone needs to write one, I'd be willing to give it a shot--Galaxyfarfaraway (talk) 07:59, January 15, 2016 (UTC)

  • Yeah, no one has written one yet, but your free to give it a shot. - AV-6R7Crew Pit 08:01, January 15, 2016 (UTC)
  • cool, I'll give it a shot and when I post it I'd love it if someone could give it a read, won't get it up too soon though, got school--Galaxyfarfaraway (talk) 08:03, January 15, 2016 (UTC)

Reception section[]

Should we also note that part of the negative reception dealt with the focusing on a certain... ahem, orientation regarding the characters? I heard it got bad enough in terms of reception for Wendig to actually take to his blog and make a rather nasty retort to his detractors.

And here's the incriminating bit from him:

"And if you’re upset because I put gay characters and a gay protagonist in the book, I got nothing for you. Sorry, you squawking saurian — meteor’s coming. And it’s a fabulously gay Nyan Cat meteor with a rainbow trailing behind it and your mode of thought will be extinct. You’re not the Rebel Alliance. You’re not the good guys. You’re the ****ing Empire, man. You’re the ****ty, oppressive, totalitarian Empire. If you can imagine a world where Luke Skywalker would be irritated that there were gay people around him, you completely missed the point of Star Wars. It’s like trying to picture Jesus kicking lepers in the throat instead of curing them. Stop being the Empire. Join the Rebel Alliance. We have love and inclusion and great music and cute droids."

Censored due to foul language.

Think we should note this. Personally, I disagree with his statements, but this IS a wiki, and we must jot down any information we find regardless of our own personal views.

  • sounds like pretty relevant information to include in a critical reception section. I found it quite interesting, thanks for sharing Galaxyfarfaraway (talk) 14:39, June 9, 2016 (UTC)
  • The negative reception is relevant, but it should be noted that while a small fraction of the negative reviews had to do with Sinjir. The vast majority of complaint had to do with Chuck's writing style, odd turns of phrase (e.g., space diapers), and forced use of Star Wars terms. It should also be noted Sinjir was not the first gay character in a new canon novel, that distinction goes to Moff Delian Mors in Lords of the Sith.
    • I'll add it in then. I'll admit, though, it really was uncalled for Wendig to assume the majority of the readers hated it just because of it having gay characters. And considering Lords of Sith had a married lesbian Moff, it's probably safe to say Wendig's incorrect about his views on the Empire there (not that I thought it was a good idea to have that in there in the first place, but still...). Weedle McHairybug (talk) 13:23, July 21, 2016 (UTC)
      • According to Wendig, the publication of Aftermath presaged enough abuse about his inclusion of gay characters that he had to call the police. That probably coloured his opinion some.

"I also started receiving TONS of harassment – harassment that has gone on for years, harassment that has required me to contact local police and warn them of SWATting attempts, harassment across all corners of the Internet, here, FB, Reddit, YouTube. Some of it was bot stuff, obviously, or sock puppets, but some of it was pretty creepy, and very personal. I didn’t call a lot of it out or even highlight, but it was there, a sort of… constant background noise. (Christ, for an extra special treat go search for my name and check out the YouTube videos if you want an eye-opening glimpse.)" -hashtalk 22:14, October 12, 2018 (UTC)
