Simple Gifts is a beautiful and familiar song, written by Joseph Brackett. This lovely Shaker hymn has been a favorite of many, including Aaron Copland, who borrowed the melody in his composition, Appalachian Spring. This arrangement of Simple Gifts can be a great review of rhythm, staff reading, history, and can also be a wonderful addition to any concert. It may be the perfect addition to your Thanksgiving lesson!
