The Akan civilization of Ghana is steeped ancient in time.  As some of the most gold rich country in the world, it was involved in gold trade thru Nok to Kush, for export to Kemet.    The Akan Supreme Being, Nyame, derived from nyAmen, a reference to the Kushite deity Amen.    When the Nok Empire declined in the 4th-century, the Empire of Wagadu rose to become West Africa's strongest nation.  Wagadu annexed the Akan into the southernmost province of their empire.
