Both of those techniques are super nice on their own, but when combined it can look a little messy. FINALLY I figured out a way to get a smooth transition between the two!!

A YouTube by @notches_sewing for a French seam into a split hem, got me most of the way there for understanding how to do this. Instead of a split I added an invisible zipper.
