Welcome to Beth Chatto's Plants and Gardens
The Beth Chatto Gardens - Woodland Garden. The Beth Chatto Gardens began in 1960. From an overgrown wasteland with poor gravel soil and boggy hollows, it has been transformed into an informal garden harmonising with the surrounding countryside. The gardens are an inspiration to anyone who visits them - the art of planting at its best.
Queer gardens
Derek Jarman’s Prospect Cottage in Dungeness, Kent. Jarman, who died in 1994, was a pathbreaking filmmaker and artist who moved to the cottage when he was diagnosed with HIV in 1986. Located near England’s most notorious nuclear power plant, the garden was ongoing project to wrest beauty from the shadow of disaster.
