Dr. Kimiko Kujo or K, is the main antagonist of the 2008 film, L: Change the World. Seemingly just a devoted member of Wammy's House and L's colleague, as well as Dr. Nikaido's partner in the Infectious Disease Centre of Asia, Dr. Kujo had grown disillusioned with mankind's pollution of the environment. Partnering with Daisuke Matoba to form the Blue Ship, Kujo developed a breed of Influenza B virus crossed with Ebola and seeks to unleash it onto the Earth and wipe out all humans except for the ones she believes cares for the environment.

She was portrayed by Youki Kudoh, while in the English dub of the film, she was voiced by Cathy Weseluck.

Personality[]

Dr. Kujo is a raving misanthrope who has nothing but pure contempt for humanity. Founding the Blue Ship organization with Dr. Matoba, Dr. Kujo does not finch at having innocent people, an entire village full even, be gruesomely murdered to test the virus. Even haring children is a line Dr. Kujo would cross, having childnne infected and kidnapping and threatening Maki for her plot to see all of humanity except her chosen few killed. She is passionate to Blue Ship's cause, and wills top at nothing to see it realized.

For how ruthless Dr. Kujo is, she does have a shred of humanity. She does genuinely want to help save the environment, that she is even willing to die with the rest of the antidote if she ahs to in order to save the environment, and is genuinely disgusted when she discovered that Dr. Matoba had only been using the cause they both foudned in the first place, just so he can make a quick buck. And she is genuinely loyal to Wammy's House, whose devotion to Blue Ship's cause is due to her believing she is following Watari's cause of protecting the planet and mourns his death. She has genuine admiration for L as a worthy opponent, and was even genuinely taken aback when finding out that L only had two days left to live.

Biography[]

Past[]

Kimiko Kujo was an orphan that was sent to Wammy's House, an orphanage founded by Watari. Having joined its detective agency under the donner of K, K had partnered up with numerous of other agents in the organization such as L to solve criminal cases all across the world. Eventually she became a chief scientist over the Infectious Disease Center of Asia, working with Dr. Nikaido. However, Kujo had grown disillusioned with mankind and how it treated the environment. So having met with Dr. Daiksuke Matoba, they founded Blue Ship, an organization of bioterrorists devoted to unleash a virus onto Earth that will annihilate all of humanity. Kujo created the virus which was a cross between Influenza B and Ebola. Kujo and Matoba had the virus tested in a village on Thailand, seeing everyone horrifically bleed to death and having the after effects be filmed before having a bomb thrown at the village to eliminate any and all witnesses.

L: Change the World[]

Dr. Kujo was introduced in the film greeting Dr. Nikaido's daughter Maki as she enters the office. Under the orders of Washington (in secret Blue Ship), Dr. Kujo and Nikaido had to analyze the virus and to create an antidote. L then eventually emails members of Wammy's House on the death of Watari, but hesitated to send it to K. K then immediately writes "Thank you for the information. It shocked me. I will mourn his death, too. – K" back to l.

Dr. Matoba and Dr. Kujo organize an invasion of the Infectious Disease Center of Asia that sees nearly all the scientists and security officers are killed. As they tear the place for the antidote, Kujo reveals herself as the mastermind behind Blue Ship and tells Dr. Nikaido that she knows that he as already created the antidote and demands it from him. However, Dr. Nikaido destroys the antidote he has and then injects himself with the virus out of defiance against Dr. Kujo. Kujo then presses a button to kill Dr. Nikaido immediately now that he is of no more use. Matoba then demands where Dr. Nikaido could've stored the antidote's formula as Blue Ship scours through the archives. Dr. Kujo immediately remembers a code on Maki's homework book, deciphering it to be Watari.

Dr. Kujo immediately contacts with L and asks for a meeting to enlist is help for the antidote. Following Maki so as to ensure they are able to get ahold of her, Blue Ship raids L's headquarters to extract the information. In defiance, maki injects the syringe given to her instead, which turns out to have been the virus, but ahs not shown any symptoms of infection. L, Maki and the unnamed boy L ahs taken under his wing escape with help from FBI Agent named Hideaki Suruga. During their escape, L hacks into Blue Ship's database to delete their data, to which Dr. Kujo sues her psoition as a well-respected scientist into tricking the public into thinking Maki is indected and spread panic and back L and team to a corner.

Maki eventually contacts Dr. Kujo for a private meeting with them alone, in turth for Maki to infect Dr. Kujo and avenge her father's death. having anticipated this, Dr. Kujo had her minions on stand-by and kidnap her. Dr. Matoba eventually books a flight for Blue Ship to travel to the United States of America. Having no desire to survive her own epidemic if it means saving the environment, Dr. Kujo releases the virus earlier than she and Dr. Matoba planned. As Dr. Matoba gets infected and reveals his true colours as a greedy coward who only partnered with her to make a quick buck, Dr. Kujo wastes no time voicing her disgust. However L enters the plane with the antidote created by Dr. Koichi Matsudo and cure everyone and stop her plans. When L confronts Dr. Kujo, he asks her if this is what Watari would've wanted, to which she replies yes as he would've wanted the world to be saved. However when L reveals he is going to die in 2 days and wants her to live on, she is taken aback. Maki eventually attempts to kill Dr. Kujo to avenge ehr father, but was talked out of it by L who is abel to reason with her and have her cured. Dr. Kujo was eventually arrested.
