Mixtape

Life is Strange Remastered Collection is a set of remastered versions of the first two games from the Life is Strange series: the debut game and its prequel, Life is Strange: Before the Storm. The collection of these episodic adventure games is the result of collaboration between the Deck Nine team and DONTNOD Entertainment, and was published by Square Enix, the company responsible for the brand.

Plot

The main protagonist of Life is Strange Remastered is Max Caulfield, a photography enthusiast who arrives in the small Oregon town of Arcadia Bay, where she starts her education at Blackwell Academy. It's not long before she discovers she can manipulate time and rekindles an old friendship with Chloe Price. The girls decide to solve the mystery of the disappearance of another student, Rachel Amber, while also uncovering the many dark secrets of Arcadia Bay.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm Remastered is set before the events presented in the original. This time, we play as Chloe Price and the story revolves around her relationship with Rachel Amber. Although Chloe doesn't have supernatural powers, she has an unusually sharp mind.

In both games the key role is played by the choices we make, which shape the fate of the heroines and determine the course the story takes. It is worth noting, however, that only in the first part of the series decisions can be undone (thanks to the protagonist's abilities).

Mechanics

The games in the Life is Strange Remastered Collection are played from a third person perspective (TPP). In each of them the gameplay is subordinated to the story. While exploring Arcadia Bay and having conversations, we not only push the plot forward, but also build the protagonists' relationships with other characters. Our dialogue choices and decisions determine the course of the story. While Max in the first part of the series can rewind time, allowing us to explore different options before making a final choice, Chloe in the prequel can 'only' chat up her interlocutors with quick retorts, allowing her to persuade them to do as she wishes.

Technical aspects

Compared to the originals, the games in the Life is Strange Remastered Collection stand out thanks to a thoroughly refreshed graphic design. The character models and environmental elements have been significantly improved, new animations have been prepared (including motion capture sessions for faces), and numerous minor improvements have been made to the graphics engine and lighting system.
