Battlefield 6 Based on Battlefield 3; Rumors Mention Reboot

The latest rumors indicate that Battlefield 6 will be heavily inspired by Battlefield 3. This is expected to be followed by a soft reboot of the series, which has been showing material fatigue for some time.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. According to fresh rumors, Battlefield 6 is to be a soft reboot of the series;
  2. The developers are allegedly drawing inspiration from the third installment.

Battlefield 6 is rumored to be a soft reboot of the franchise, inspired in part by the gameplay from Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4, as revealed by Twitter user Tom Henderson, who is quite knowledgeable about the brand.

From what he revealed in the video (you can watch it below), we learn that the sixth installment of Battlefield is likely to be a soft reboot of the series. The developers are expected to draw inspiration from Battlefield 3, which is still fondly remembered by the fans.

The devs plan to emphasize increased scope of skirmishes. The online mode is allegedly being developed with 128 players on next-gen consoles in mind. The PS4 and Xbox One versions (handled by a different studio or by a DICE team dedicated to porting the game) will feature 64-player battles, limited environmental destruction and less detailed visuals.

A battle royale mode is also likely to return. Henderson reports that Electronic Arts is excited about the success of Call of Duty: Warzone, and would like to carve a piece of thar pie for itself. The topic may come as a bit of a surprise when we look at Battlefield V's Firestorm mode, which died a quick death.

Of course, this information should be taken with a grain of salt, but it's not the first time similar reports have appeared online. But what about the remaster of Battlefield 3 in this case, which we also wrote about? It seems that the author of the earlier rumors was mistaken.
