Writing is a prolonged business of self-inquiry. Thus, I write for self-satisfaction. I have umpteen short stories, articles, and poems published in local magazines and newspapers.

Sampai bulan bercantum kembali

Aku mengerti betapa siksa menantikan rembulan yang enggan muncul sampai dinihari. Aku pernah juga melihat bulan pecah di balik awan, lalu guruh pun mengaduh duka. Aku ngerti itu. Maka nanti sampai bulan bercantum kembali, usahlah dicari aku.

-AM.

“I just dont know how...to think less. If you know how, then teach me...”
Aishah Madadiy, Velvet di Durham

“Sooner I realized, he doesn't need to be big to be brave, because bravery is the courage found in the heart...”
Aishah Madadiy, Velvet di Durham

“This is for kids.."
"No, this is for everyone... though we're kids within ourselves.”
Aishah Madadiy, Velvet di Durham

“I like ethics." The question of morality, how and why do people behave in certain ways. "And the principle of knowledge." I continue, "I've read this one." I show him On Certainty (book) by Ludwig Wittgenstein wrapped in my hand.

"An intelligent one, that is, though, modern mind rarely appreciates such kind of writing. Not any more. I studied philosophy myself, and you know what I think? Every branch of knowledge needs philosophy for it helps to organise the flow of ideas and articulate meanings.

I could not agree more to that. "Do you think it will be deserted one day?"

"Probably. Nobody will bother about it any more, just like history. What is the only thing people become more interested in nowadays?" he asks. "Making money." His thumb rubs repeatedly over the tip of the index finger. "Philosophy and history are considered as eccentric. They don't usually offer people high income, and that's the inexorable reality. We've got to deal with it anyhow.”
Aishah Madadiy, Bits of Heaven

“I leave his house feeling blissed. It is not the same feeling like when you get a present from someone, you buy things you desire, or you receive good news. It is something intrinsic that stems from solicitude, which triggers your conscience to carry out something good - in my case, helping Mr Mario. That is how righteousness works. It does not only give pleasure to the receiver (of good action), but to the giver as well.”
Aishah Madadiy, Bits of Heaven

“I wish social disparity has long gone, people can be genuine, and news can be fact-based and error-free.”
Aishah Madadiy, Bits of Heaven

“I think virtue is the quintessence of perfection, and the One who created it definitely stands beyond that value. Virtues like honesty, loyalty and courtesy, do not have to be completely defined by their relation to extrinsic things. Even if they are not realized by actions, their good value remains. Thus, it is not the end of virtue that I fear, but the end of me. What kind of person will I become without righteousness, for instance? I may not even be able to define myself.”
Aishah Madadiy

“How virtuous can you be in this gloomy, deceitful world? I find it hard to answer the question, but I tell you this, I want to be a man of complete integrity, who will always stick to his principles and never settle for anything less.”
Aishah Madadiy, Bits of Heaven
