Aaron's Kiss #6

Fated Absolution

Rate this book
“You either go to this appointment or so help me I’ll make your life a living hell.” Madison Harm glared at her boss. She didn’t want to go, but short of him adding more time onto her contract there was little she could do about it. Little did she know that on the way there she’d run into her destiny.

Kyle Dixon, a very old and powerful vampire is walking along minding his own business when all of the sudden he is being run down by a car. The woman who gets out to help him is a tad odd and she talks to herself. When she claims to have an appointment with his good friend Aaron, he decided to come along for the ride.

Maddy doesn’t believe in vampires, she doesn’t believe in much of anything really. So when she find out that she herself is something much more, she takes a few days to get used to the idea. Kyle however wants her now.

Morrigan the queen of all fairies has been waiting for Maddy for millenniums. And now that she was found, another, a being so evil has decided that he too wants the magick that Maddy holds. So when he takes Kyle and holds him as a pawn, Maddy has no choice but to give him what he wants. She gives him her love and freedom with her last breath.

Love can conquer all, but can it go beyond the bonds of death? Will there be enough love between the two to claim everything? Kyle and Maddy a love that transcends otherworlds.

Ms. Barton, you are my best friend. I can’t get enough of the Aaron’s Kiss series. Maddy is a lawyer working for the worst law firm possible. She’s been given an assignment to go to Aaron’s home and talk about buying some buildings. On her way there, she literally runs into Kyle Dixon with her car. He’s fine and has decided to jump into her car and take the ride to Aaron’s home. Without a doubt, they don’t hit it off too well in the beginning but it’s not going to stop Kyle from making his moves on Maddy. Aaron and his crew have gotten it worked out to get Maddy out of that law firm and work for them but she isn’t going to make it easy for any of them because she is still working in a bar. Maddy isn’t getting any sleep because she is having horrible nightmares of something telling her she is going to be his. Kyle is determined he is going to protect her from everything and make her his mate. So the tale continues on in the series. I love this series. I am constantly laughing at all the antics that go in Aaron’s house. Ms. Barton sure knows how to write a story and I can’t get enough of her books. Thank you for another masterpiece.

Read in the box set and badly needs proofreading.
The pity is these stories could be great. The bones are wonderful and the characters entertaining, if too similar in temperaments.
Very much a repetition of earlier books. Heroine has an aggressive attitude and doesn’t listen or accept help. She then finds she has powers and is something very special, so of course does the TSTL act.
Hero screws up continuously by being bossy and high handed.
These two spend little together that isn’t fighting but all of a sudden are lovey mates.
The information about what Madeline is and the nightmare character are just stated in one sentence for each answer. No working up to it, just given as a bland statement.
Who the demon dream walker was to Maddy was just ugly and wasn’t given enough explanation.
Maddy’s bosses at the law firm were completely unbelievable and deserved how they were dealt with.
Please, please, please get these books proofread properly. Within the first 5 pages, there were no less than 10 errors. Misspelt words, wrong grammar, it was atrociously deplorable. By the end of chapter two I just gave up and ignored them all and there were too many to count by the end.
Read in the box set and I cannot remember if I have read this one before. Says it all.

I think Maddy has become my favorite character of this series. Don't get me wrong, all the female mates have been outstanding but her banter with Aaron is the bomb. I don't think I have laughed that much in years . I could just picture his face every time she called him "Daddy" and when she flipped the Alpha across the room I lost it. Maddy is a lawyer that is caught in a bad situation, sent to Aaron by her law firm she enters a world she did not know existed. Kyle is one of Aaron's oldest friends, meeting his mate when she hits him with her car has got to go down in the most interesting ways to accomplish this feet. Old school meets new school is sure to keep you smiling as they navigate their tricky mating. Dark magic, stubborn females, secrets and a destiny that is a serious twist will keep you engaged right up to the end. Aaron's kiss seems to be getting some pretty bad a@# additions, makes me wonder what Ms. Barton is leading up too. I eagerly await what comes next.
I volunteered to read this story for my honest opinion.

I;m giving this a 2.5 stars.

I was disappointed in this book for several reasons. The first is the editing and grammar, now I don't like to critic a book based on formatting or editing because that's not really the author's job except in self-published books and this wasn't self-pubbed.
But, the editing and grammar was really, really bad, to the point I couldn't ignore it and I tend to be pretty good at that.

... this is the worse firm in ...

of the worse firm, you learned ...

Then there was some just weird stuff like this sentence:
She wanted him to rip the clothes from her and take was nearly crippling her

or: a laptop that was internet and Y-five ready, wifi ready maybe? And the mind melt thingy, which I hope was meant to be mind meld.

Anyway...

The first thing related to the actual book that annoyed me was the previous book Enduring Retribution was released earlier this year, but the events in it were referred to as six years ago. I hate time skips unrelated to the book release where the author doesn't tell me up front how much time has passed. Unless I'm told I usually assume that only a couple months has passed at the most.

Next, Maddy acted like she really wanted to keep her job at Schaller and Schaller, even though a blind person could see that the job offer of the MacManus' and the Wolffe's was a much better option. And why didn't she just quit? I couldn't see that the alternative was so much better. Pride is one thing but Maddy was physically abused by her boss and used as slave labor, what the hell?

Then Maddy somehow quit Schaller and Schaller without mention in the book that I could see and started working at a dive bar full-time out of nowhere, despite the fact that nowhere was there a mention of her having two jobs before.

Also some of Barton's heroes drink stupid juice before interacting with their heroine, (Colin in Divine Savior and Dominic from Natural Magick) but Kyle had a double and told the bartender to keep 'em coming. He apologised for kissing her, manhandled her and generally jumped from being an asshole to coming onto her.

Somehow the consequences of the contract thing come up in court and disappear and I have to say, a judge deliberately getting himself assigned to your case because he agrees with you? Got to be unethical if not illegal. (Also ouch, poor Danny)

Then finally after all the wtf-ery of the first half of the book is over and Maddy and Kyle have sealed their mating. Maddy's demonic brother goes after her (for breedmare-ing, ewwwww) and kills her and almost Kyle but she uses her last breath to call for Morrigan (Fae goddess) and asks her to heal Kyle. Kyle, who literally can't live without Maddy says he will kill himself without her so Morrigan calls the fates and they bring her back. Which means the blurb created tension where there was none.

Aditional WTF-ery:

I wouldn't burn this book, but I wouldn't buy it either, get it from the library and be aware that it's full of insanity. That said, I will read the next book, Reluctant Alpha because I think it's Bradley Wolffe's book finally.

'Fated Absolution' is the sixth book in Kathi S. Barton's "Aaron's Kiss" series. This time we are introduced to Madison Shelby Harm, aka Maddy, and Kyle Dixon. Maddy had graduated at the top of her class when becoming a lawyer and thought at the time Schaller and Schaller had given her the best opportunity for employment since she wanted to stay local. Unfortunately, the promise of them helping her pay the $356,000 in college tuition and fees plus a guaranteed two-year employment contract turned into a living nightmare that now four years later, she couldn't get out of. One of their clients, Aaron McMannus, couldn't meet during daylight business hours and it was not Maddy's responsibility to meet him after hours at his home, on her own time and dime. She has a strong personality and doesn't hold her opinion or thoughts back when needed and sometimes even when it's not. It tickled me though, that Maddy has the habit of continually talking to herself as if she's having a full-blown conversation with someone. LOL Leaving the office something or someone, at the time she's not sure what, darts out in front of her and she winds up hitting it with her car. Turns out it is Kyle, a fourteen-hundred-year-old vampire who is a friend of Aaron's and is on his way to meet him. This patriarchal group has a way of pushing every button Maddy has and she doesn't hold anything back, including the power behind her punch or the aim of her firearm. There are a few twists and turns, several surprises, and revelations that just melted my heart. 'Reluctant Alpha' is next and I can't wait.

Fates Healed the Future Queen of the Fairies

Kyle & Maddy (she also goes by some other interesting names) meet when he runs out into the middle of the road & Maddy hits him with her car. Their relationship starts out a little rocky but towards the end of the book they get together & mate. There are several bad men in this story that like to use Maddy as a punching bag (they include her bosses, her insane twin brother who she didn't know of & Kyle by accident & before he knew that she was his mate). Maddy also learns later in this book that she is the future Queen of the Fairies & she also gets to meet the 3 Fates after they save her life along with the current Queen of the Fairies & Kyle. This book is a HEA but isn't a standalone because in order to enjoy this book you will have to read the other books in this series. I also finished reading this book in 1 day as it pulled me in & didn't let me go until the end.

Favourite Line Just great! Well Daddy dearest get my mate home before to much longer.

Every book in this series is just fabulous! I love watching theses big tough alpha men and tough vampires become blabbering balls of mush when the find there mates! I just can't get enough of this series.
Maddy is a lawyer who is at a horrible job. Kyle is a close friend to Aaron who came to help him look into the law firm where Maddy works. She literally runs him over.
He is shocked when he smells cherry blossom. As with all the of the Kiss books when a Vampire find there mate the smell a certain smell. I love that about this series.
Will Kyle convince Maddy that they should be together? You should read it to find out!
I so enjoy these characters and the story line was fabulous!!

Madison Harm or Maddy as she likes to be called is a lawyer but she isn't happy because her boss helped her with her loans and now keeps adding time onto her contract. He sends her to Aaron and little does she know that her life is about to change forever. Kyle Dixon is a very old and powerful Vampire and is on his way to see Aaron when he is run over by the odd Maddy who has a habit of talking to herself. Maddy is more than just a lawyer - Morrigan the Queen of all faeries has been waiting for Maddy for a very very long time but someone else wants Maddy and all the power she has hidden deep within her. Kyle knows that she is his mate but will the love he has for her and the unknown love she has for him be enough to conquer evil even thru death. This book is amazing and would recommend to all.

Will love conquer all?

Kyle Dixon is one of Aaron's oldest friends. He's gone this long with out finding a mate, and sees no reason why he should shackle himself down with one woman like his buddy has. But when he's hit with a car by a crazy woman who talks to herself it would be just his luck she's his mate.

Madison Harm (Maddy) has a life sentence at the law firm she's employed at, the original terms were for 2 years, but with each wrong doing in her bosses eyes time just keeps adding up. But an appointment with Mr. MacManus changes her world. Now she just has to figure out if she's crazy crazy or white jacket and padded walls crazy.

This book and the entire Aaron's Kiss Series has fascinating characters, excitement, action, and romance. They are all easy to follow and flow very nicely. As is every book this author writes. I love how each character has a detailed background and makes in an appearance in other books through out the series. Must read!

I liked Maddy and Kyle. The boss angered me throughout the story. I did not see the twist coming, but it was what bad dreams were made of. Danny's case was awesome! These bad characters are truly insane and power hungry.

Typos and Misspelled words abound

The premise of this book was good, and I really looked forward to it, but there were typos and misspelled words in every paragraph.

I love the stories, but seriously, Ms. Barton needs to get her a new person to correct grammar and spelling. I understand these books have been out for some time, but still it's atrocious. It makes me cringe, especially "I'd of" instead of "I'd have"! Such a shame when I enjoy the story.
