Hero and heroine are married. He's a mamma's boy so he forces the heroine to live with the family that hates her. He knows they all hate her, but he figures if she just puts up with it, eventually everything will work itself out. Then a family friend that also hates her announces she's pregnant with the hero's child. The whole family and the girl all say that he's the dad. The whole world knows that he's the dad. He tells the heroine that he's not the dad, but when she asks who is, he refuses to tell her and instead says if she wants to know she should just ask the girl. She begs this girl who still says it's the hero's child. So she leaves him.

5 years later the hero goes to see his wife because he's going to marry the family approved woman. And the two fall into bed right away. Then the heroine winds up pregnant but doesn't want to tell him because he might decide not to divorce her if she does.

Follow that up with the hero going to see her because he wants her to come back home with him to visit his sick father, who is the only person who actually liked the heroine. She agrees. So when she gets there she's met with the hostile family, the girl who was pregnant with the hero's baby 5 years ago, yep she's still there, and the hero's almost fiancee. He hadn't asked yet, but they'd already discussed it and were just waiting for him to get a divorce from his wife.

The hero's mother hated one of her children, hated the heroine, and decided to let the married hero take the blame for fathering this girl's child to save her one son, that the whole family agreed with, instead of the son who was in the closet so would hurt NO ONE to take the blame for it. And the 'hero' of this story does not tell the heroine because it's a family thing and had to be kept a secret. She was NOT his girlfriend, she was his WIFE.

And just to put the crown on this horrible book, the hero claims to not be a cheater, despite the fact that he was married, therefore cheated on his wife when he slept with all these other women, and was practically engaged to be married to another woman when he slept with his wife again. Was he a cheater? Oh yes he was. And the heroine says..I haven't slept with anyone else since you. And the hero says good, because I wouldn't like it if anyone else touched you.

I should know better than to read Anne Mather. Her bad books are so horrible that her good books just aren't worth it.

This book had so much potential with the over the top passion of the Greek H and h...then there's the rest of the story.

This is one big plastic tub of nasty, lying, self-serving, judgmental, petty characters.

The h's mother is whiny and conniving.

The H's mother is mean, bitch and conniving.

The H's fiancee (although he and the h aren't even divorced) is mean, bitchy and smug.

The vapid liar that happens to be Greek and a friend of the family gets a pass because she's Greek and a friend of the family despite lying about her dead's son's paternity, blaming it on the H.

The author for creating a bastard plot moppet only to kill him off.

The H for sleeping around since his wife left but still loves her.

The H for not explaining the big bad secret to his wife but just expecting her to take his word over that of the vapid liar and HIS WHOLE FAMILY one of whom is a priest in training.

The

The H's mother who lies to the dad about who the H really loves, lies to her other son who's gay that the dad can't deal so can't trust him with big greek tycoon business, and what else...I forgot, but that's enough to go on for now. She's a real piece of work and should have been banished to a rock in the Aegean where the crows.... You get the drift.

The h's employer who colludes with the conniving mother to keep the H from the h despite the fact he flew from Greece to London and lurked.

Only two characters that are remotely decent are the h who is just kinda there, and the H's father who has a brain and a heart.

I'm not sure why I read this book because this is exactly why Harlequin Presents gets such a bad rap in the industry. There is nothing redeeming about any character in this whole book. The heroine leaves the husband after a friend of the family announces that she is pregnant with his child. The entire family knows it is not his child, but they refuse to tell her in order to protect the son whose child it is. The hero says he never believed she would leave him....otherwise he would have forced his family to tell her. Huh????

Five years later he comes to tell her he wants a divorce so that he can move on and marry a woman whom the family approves. So what happens, she falls into bed with him....after the most horrible betrayal and five years of hearing nothing from him...Of course, she gets pregnant, but can't tell him since he is going to marry the OW. At the request of the hero, she flies to his island one more time to see his dying father, who was the only one in the family ever nice to her. Of course, the hero asks her (half-way through the visit) what type of game she is playing coming to the island. Did he forget, he was the one to ask her to come? Of course, they can't keep their hands off each other even having sex with the supposed fiance in the next room.
There was nothing redeeming about the hero or heroine.

And this is what Anne Mather claims is love? Yikes.

Everyone is terrible in this second-chance story.

H/h broke up five years before because heroine thought hero was the father of a baby with a young girl, who was a friend of his family’s. Hero denied he was the father but everyone else told heroine it was true – the mother of the child, the hero’s parents, his brothers, etc. . .

Hero was angry heroine wouldn’t believe him and left Greece for England. Heroine continued her career at the art gallery and didn’t realize her mother and boss were actively keeping the hero away.

The hero wants to marry the woman he’s been having sex with, so he finally journeys to England to ask for a divorce from the heroine face to face.

After agreeing to a divorce, they have sex and heroine falls pregnant.
Oh, no. What will happen next?

Ha! Of course, H/h have to see each other again. Hero plays the my-dad-has-cancer card and invites the heroine to his home in Greece. Heroine is met (in her own car she used during her marriage) by the OW and has to put up with her hostile mother-in-law.

It should be great angst, but honestly, this heroine is ridiculous for putting up with it. When the truth comes out

Anyhow, they’ve got their HEA as long as they stay away from either family.

DNF I can’t fucking stand doormats, especially in cheating books.

She starts sobbing when the cheating hero( the asshole she thinks got another girl pregnant) shows up to ask for a divorce, so he can marry another woman. Where is your spine, why didn’t she ask for a divorce? She thinks her hub cheated and got another girl pregnant, what girl wants to stay married to a douch like that? So After getting caught crying her eyes out in the closet, she falls into bed with him, because she of course remained celibate for 5 fucking years and his magic penis is so good! He fly’s back and meets his fiancée, and they kiss. I DNF right there… screw this book.

Safety

During the separation he slept with other women, including the woman he plans to marry with his wedding ring still on. This pissed me off and I consider this cheating. If he had removed the ring and had plan to divorce, as In the marriage was over even if not legally, I wouldn’t have cared.

I re-read it and i have been able to see things that i was not able to see before, the issues were never solved, the relationship between hubby-wife suffered cause of lack of trust from both the sides, keeping things from each other, lack of communication and even after seperation and getting second chance the issues were left as it is and hubby still not accepting his part of fault in break down of their marriage and his attitude about cheating is so frustrating,he is all squeaky clean and all the fault lies on his wife's shoulder

Now i am thinking when i read it long time back why did i gave it 4 stars lol, well better late then never re-reading it has made me see things in the story which i could'nt see before

Jane, and Demetri’s marriage was going strong but she abandoned him cause she believed a woman who claims she's pregnant with the hero's child. After 5-yrs hero visits heroine to ask for a divorce so he can marry again. They have sex, she ends up pregnant and she agrees to go with him to Greece to visit his sick father. Hero doesn't know she is pregnant and when in Greece heroine has to deal once again with her mother in law from hell and hero's new girlfriend.

Very sweet and emotional story about a second chance at love. The couple was really head over heels in love and their relationship was filled with manipulation, deceit, sexual energy and raw passion!

Considering the subject matter—cheating or the assumption of cheating and the 5 year separation, this should have been much more angsty than it was, most of the drama is caused by interfering family members.

This one is chucked full of characters behaving badly. I wouldn’t call it a rage read, but it’s definitely frustrating, and full of illogical decisions/actions. How much you enjoy it, will be determined on how seriously/hooked/outraged you get from H’s not being celibate during separations, and the whole “love triangle” concept. It seems like that is the point for the majority of negative reviews, so if that’s a deal breaker…. I’d save yourself the time/frustration and skip it.

I’m going to be a vague as possible, but will spoiler tag the rest to cover my ass.

An intense read.

Young and so in love Jane and Demetri allowed others to influence them and thus the fate of their marriage was sealed. They now meet 5 years later as Demetri has come to ask for a divorce......I just can't get over the fact that they waited 5 long years!!!! They find that their passion is still as strong as ever and share a hot interlude.

They part again.....until his father summons her to the island. His father had always like her and wants to see her before he dies. Jane now secretly pregnant arrives on the island hoping this will be an easier visit now that she is no longer involved with Demetri. She soon finds that her mother-in-law is still as nasty as before and up to the same hurtful tricks. She takes great joy in rubbing Jane's nose and pride in dust of Demetri's new love. This all sits wrong with Demetri and he starts to feel guilty for bringing Jane into this. That secret that helped destory their marriage starts to unravel and all the lies told get exposed.......exposing the liars that feel no guilt or remorse.....and get no punishment.

Still allowing others to influence them.....they make more mistakes until Jane believes it is best she leaves. Demetri finally finds his voice and states his feelings but is it too late to get Jane back?

This book was intense and passionate but so sad for the heartache caused by others. One nasty controlling mother-in-law and that evil OW! I can't understand why people don't finalize their divorces before committing adultry......such a simple thing really. Demetri may come off strong and tough but he really was weak in allowing his mother to conrol his adult life but then she also controlled the other men in her life....sad. When Demetri finally grows some balls and takes responsiblity for his choices...he moves up in the hero category.

This was just okay. It was one of those where I got disgusted because of the lack of honesty on the part of the hero and the lack of trust on the part of the heroine. It did have a deliciously evil mother-in-law though so that's a point in its favor. :-)

I’m starting this review with a spoiler, but it is the best way I know how to describe the book the sample below is taken from chapter16 –

“Will you ever forgive me for doubting you? For allowing other people to make such a mess of our lives?

Jane, and Demetri’s passion for one another burned and sizzled. The chemistry between the couple was never a problem. One brief touch, and they wanted one another.

Early in their marriage, they allowed other people to drive them apart with vicious lies. Jane had one of the worst mother in laws ever. It seemed like the world was against this couple, and didn’t want them together. I’m glad in the end that their love for one another was strong enough to bring them back together. Really good book. Sorry for the spoiler, but it summed up the book.

Cheater…

Anne Mather has a style that I don’t always care for, and this is one of those times. Yes, they had a huge disagreement and she ran away, and it’s now 5 years later. He’s now sleeping with someone else and he finally wants a divorce. Sorry, but adultery is a hard line.

Regardless, there’s a tremendous amount of distrust on both their parts, but some of it is very understandable. His mother is a huge meddling liar and/or manipulator and she’s caused a lot of problems. Other people have caused huge problems too. It was almost unbelievable that this couple got back together.

No groveling due to the infidelity at all. It was barely noticeable- he said he wasn’t a monk! And she barely blinked an eye. There was more angst about the divorce request than anything else.

This wasn’t a favorite… 3 stars.

Interesting novel, although there's a minor safety issue (). Demetri was a bit too proud for my liking, but if the heroine is happy with him, who am I to stand in the way of their happiness :) What redeemed him in my eyes, was that he put the evil mother in her place.

Very hurtful 😠
His family told he made Lanthe pregnant while married to Jane...
After seperation he was having sex with Ariane , whom his mother wanted...
Damitri sought her out for divorce, but not for a clear explanation in 5 years...,made pregnant, then left again...
When 5 years of pain, betrayal became clear..the bitch mother in law was forgiven, Lanthe the characterless greedy bitch had been part of the family...
The Hero had been having sex with other woman...his logic was..I'm a man after all 🤮
Most shitty and. Painful read

What a passionate, sexy H. He can’t keep his eyes, hands, lips and other body parts of the h. Love that! The erotic scenes are very well written. Very sensual. You can feel his desire by the way Anne Mather writes.

The only thing I didn’t like, was that he had sex several times with the OW (before he met his wife, the h, again after 5 years) and also how unsensitive he was for the feelings of the OW.

The OW was his girlfriend/mistress whom he planned to marry after he would divorce the h. He should have broken up with the OW after he had sex with the h, but he didn’t.

The Greek Tycoon's Pregnant Wife

Years earlier a lie was told that crashed a marriage. She was told that her husband had gotten another woman pregnant. She left. Now years later he wants a divorce so that he can marry another. But while the marriage dissolves he still wants his wife. This story was so convoluted. He had no moral compass. It seems like a typical Greek male. This is one story line that I have re-read several times and still get made at the hero.

This book made me so angry. I have to try and remember it is not real life.

Hero's entire family, including the father who was allegedly 'fond' of Jane (the heroine), and the brother who was supposed to be her friend deliberately destroyed her marriage in order to protect other people, by smearing the husband's name, and convincing the wife the lies were true. The hero was quite aware of what they were doing, but sat back and let it happen - even though he could have trusted his wife enough to explain the truth about the situation. The family never say sorry or take any steps to remove the slur on the 'hero's' name.

In the 5 years he and his wife have been separated he has quite merrily continued putting the family's needs first, (he only tried to see the heroine once after the marriage fell apart), to the extent he wants to divorce Jane to marry a girl his family actually approves of.

What a wimp - no wonder she left. Why would you stay with a man like that?

Some reviewers have said that Jane displayed a lack of trust in her husband or there was miscommunication. No - he lied to her. He just expected her to believe in his innocence - without telling her the truth of the situation. Why would she do that when it appeared the rest of his family didn't believe him either. Some people may believe she should have trusted him - but he was lying to her. AHHHHHHHHHH. It drove me mad.

The conclusion of the book is appalling - there are no consequences for the family - they all get off scott free - not one apology. She even lets the evil mother, who orchestrated everything, see her baby. Why? why? would you let a woman who was so evil and manipulative she would destroy her son's happiness have anything to do with your child?
