The official books of history tell of the Great War between noble dogs and monstrous villainous hellhounds, which ended with the dogs' victory, and the hellhounds were locked in the Crater valley that was infested with Black Touch. Thus the evil forces of darkness were sealed forever to rot in their own monstrosity. They got what they deserved. This is according to the official books of history. But that's how it is... that official books of history are always written by the winners.

This is a unique world we encounter in 'Wurr', a world which is turned upside down. The beasts who a granted to be a force of evil in the more classical works - dark, ugly and hideous hellhounds, as they are called, thought the hellhounds are really just strongly mutated dogs, - are the heroes there. They don't hatch plans of world domination - instead, they just try to survive in the harsh surroundings of the Crater.

Emmiina Jokinen is an amazing artist. She has a great deal of attention to anatomy and biology details, and since our main heroes are the pack of mutated dogs, it's especially amazing. I've read this as a webcomic, so I don't know whether the printed edition has some additional material, but in her webcomic the author gives a lot of comments about the characters and the world. She doesn't just say, 'This hero has eyes on his tongue', but she explains how he is able to see without optic nerves and eye socket.

The characters are also written very good, and each one has an unmistakable voice and original personality. Emmiina Jokinen very good with conveying canine emotions, and you can see it in many scenes. One of my favourite scenes is one at the end of this chapter, when our heroes see 'the real color of the sky' (i.e. blue sky, and not grey or covered with clouds) for the first time.

So why 4 stars? To be honest, not much actually happens during this chapter. It's not a story that is complete on its own, but just a beginning of a much bigger tale. What we witness so far are the events that set the plot in motion. The first domino piece has fallen. What will happen next?
