Nothing Ever Happens Here

“No one weaves a twisty, dark tale quite like Seraphina Nova Glass.” —Amber Garza, author of When I Was You

Nothing ever happens in small towns…

When Shelby Dawson survives a harrowing attack that should have left her dead, she tries to move past it—for herself, and for her family. Fifteen months later, with the help of her best friend, Mackenzie, she finally feels safe again in the snowy Minnesota town she calls home. But when an anonymous note appears on her windshield bearing the same threats her attacker made, Shelby realizes that her nightmare has only just begun.

As new evidence surfaces, and a group of well-meaning senior citizens accidentally makes the case go viral online, the situation quickly goes from bad to worse. And with suspicious accidents targeting those closest to her happening all over town, Shelby can’t shake the feeling that she’s being watched. Fighting to stay one step ahead of disaster, she finds herself asking the question on everyone’s lips: Who attacked her that night?

But Shelby isn’t the only one with questions. Mackenzie’s husband, Leo, vanished without a trace on that terrible night, and over a year later, no one knows why. Until a deep dive into his finances reveals a history of debts, mismanaged funds, and hidden accounts—one of which is still active. Their suspicion that Leo is still alive only complicates things further, though, and when another person connected to Shelby goes missing, she’s caught in a race against time before her attacker becomes a killer.

A missing husband…a potential killer on the loose. This quaint Northern Minnesota town is suddenly the hotspot of mystery!

Shelby and Mackenzie are long-time friends. And one fateful night both their lives change forever.
Shelby is attacked inside Mackenzie’s coffee house and left for dead. Who was behind the attack, and why?
Mackenzie’s husband Leo curiously vanishes into thin air leaving her to wonder if she really knew her husband at all.

A concerned group of seniors take it upon themselves to start a podcast (that goes viral mind you) to help solve all the strange happenings in this sleepy Minnesota town.

This book had a bit of a different feeling to it from this author’s previous works. The addition of the seniors gave it a cozy element that I think many will enjoy! It lightened up the thriller element.

Looking forward to more reads from SNG and hoping she will once again bring back America’s favorite podcasters!😂

Thank you to Edelweiss and Graydon House

As soon as I heard that Seraphina Nova Glass had another book coming out, I knew immediately that I had to get my hands on it ASAP. So when I saw that those of us at Thriller Book Lovers: The Pulse had an exclusive to read it early? Well, I snapped it up quick. After all, she’s one of my favorite authors, as her thrillers are always packed to the gills with sublime characters, evocative settings, and unguessable twists. Let me tell you, Nothing Ever Happens Here had all of that and more. Unfurling with ratcheting suspense that easily kept me on the edge of my seat, I was utterly captivated from the first compelling page until the very last word.

As evidenced by Glass’s prior books, her biggest talent is creating eccentric, oddball characters and comedic yet drama-filled scenes. Just as I loved her rundown motel setting in The Vacancy in Room 10, the realistic yet unforgettable assisted living community was equally well done in Nothing Ever Happens Here. I mean, I could vividly see the gray-haired old dears bickering over Murder She Wrote until bad things began to occur. From there you can just imagine how the spunky protagonists got down to business in the hopes of stopping the evil doer in their tracks before even more dead bodies began to accrue.

All in all, Glass definitely managed to do it again. From the giggle-worthy humor to the pulse-pounding climax, this author knows just how to blend it all into one truly dynamite premise. Told via multiple POVs that made the book sing, the well-plotted storyline was addictive in the extreme. Was it on the edge of over-the-top? Well, yes…but only in the best possible way. So suspend your disbelief, plant yourself in your favorite reading spot, and get ready to meet some truly endearing personas as they take you on the ride of your life. Intense, humor-filled, twisty, and fun, you’re going to want to read this book as soon as it’s out in the world, no ifs, ands, or buts. Rating of 4 stars.

WOW!!!!

Nothing Ever Happens Here
By: Seraphina Nova Glass
Pub Date: Febrary 11, 2025
Publisher: Graydon House.

The past comes back to haunt Shelby Dawson.

Over a year ago she survived an attack which should have left her dead. She lives in Minnesota and is trying to get her life back together when an anonymous note shows up on her car. This is JUST THE BEGINNING! How can this be happening? This note has to be from her attacker.

A group of people are investigating as new evidence comes to light. This makes the case front and center, VIRAL. Shelby does not feel SAFE. She feels like she is being STALKED!

Leo, who is Mackenzie’s husband also vanished that night of the attack. Are they related?

Mackenzie delves into her husbands finances and discovers that one of his accounts is being used. She knew nothing about this. Could Leo be involved?
Now another person is missing! What the heck?

Another nail-bitter by Glass. When you THINK you know, GUESS again! No spoilers.

Thank you Graydon House and Thriller Book Lovers the Pulse for this advanced e-ARC.

I am *so lucky* I was able to read a super early copy of NOTHING EVER HAPPENS HERE, thanks to being a @thrillerbookloversthepulse team member and @graydonhousebooks

I’ve been on a full-blown SNG bender this month - I tore through this and then (finally!) listened to ON A QUIET STREET and then SOMEONE’S LISTENING, and I can officially call myself a #seraphinanovaglass superfan. I also loved her last book (VACANCY IN ROOM 10) and think she just keeps getting better and better. She’s found such a sweet spot between truly harrowing situations + flawed, snarky female protagonists (my favorite!) + a light touch of hilarious banter amongst groups of eccentric weirdos. I love her.

This book has my jaw open quite a few times thinking WTF! We have some senior loving folks, one trying to find a hobby who decides she should start a true crime podcast. We have Mack whose husband Leo disappeared a year ago from suspicious circumstances. We also have Shelby, Mack’s friend, who has survived an attempted murder and feels like there is someone always watching her. There have been some unexplained deaths recently in their small town and now the gang is beginning to think there was foul play involved. The element of the seniors gave this book more of a cozy feel for much of the story, but don’t you worry, there were many thrilling parts as well!

Nothing Ever Happens Here starts off with such intensity, my heart was racing in chapter 1. Chapter 2 upped the ante. There are many nail biting moments throughout but they are counter balanced with this amazing group of senior citizen armchair detectives. They seriously stole the show and I'd love to see them again.

This is only my second book by this author and I definitely need to get my hands on the backlist.

A little over a year ago, Shelby survived a terrifying attack on the same night her best friend Mack’s husband Leo goes missing. Mack is still trying to figure out what happened to Leo, praying that he would never hurt Shelby and that the timing is just a coincidence. When Shelby starts receiving sinister messages, she realizes her attacker is still out there and her nightmare is far from over. Meanwhile, an intrepid group of senior citizens at The Oleander senior housing where Shelby works have decided to investigate, accidentally making the case go viral. Now Shelby and the Ole Gang need to find the culprit before someone else gets hurt – or worse.

This book grabbed me right from the start with the intense scene of Shelby’s attack and took me on a rollercoaster ride until the very end! I absolutely adore Seraphina’s writing style and the way she so perfectly sets the scene. The wintry Minnesota small-town atmosphere is on point, with mentions of ice fishing, hotdishes, and meat raffles sprinkled into the prose. The plot is intricate and action-packed, and I’m in awe of how this dark and twisty tale was infused with a bit of lightness and humor, making it feel a little cozy despite some scary scenes. Best of all are the characters, especially the Ole Gang. Just like the pool ladies in The Vacancy in Room 10, a charming cast of supporting characters adds so much to this story. I love a great senior character, and here we get a whole group of wily, resourceful, funny, and determined senior sleuths! No wonder all of my friends at Thriller Book Lovers: The Pulse are buzzing about this one! Add this one to your early 2025 TBR!

I have yet to read anything by this author so when we got the exclusive at Thriller Book Lovers - The Pulse, I couldn’t WAIT to dive in! I absolutely love Seraphina’s writing style! The story is dark, slightly disturbing (in a good way!) and twisty yet sprinkled with some humor that I wasn’t expecting but really enjoyed. The first chapter starts off so intense and it never lets up. I was suspicious of so many people and I didn’t guess the twist that was coming at all. The characters were all so interesting and I loved the dual POV’s in each chapter. I look forward to reading more books by this author!

This was such a great read, and my first from this author. It was fast-paced, and I absolutely loved the senior citizens creating a podcast and trying to solve the goings on. There were quite a lot of characters in this one, so be prepared to take notes on who is who because, at times, I was mistaking one for another.
I look forward to reading more from this author.

Nova Glass is an auto read author for me so I was so excited when Nothing Ever Happens Here became available! It was definitely a DROP EVERYTHING moment!

When I say Nothing Ever Happens Here opens with a bang, wow, am I not kidding. My jaw hit the floor. As a mother, I could honestly feel Shelby's distress as she realized her babies were trapped the car while she was completely helpless. It made a catastrophic situation all the more traumatic and emotional!

From there, Nova Glass weaves a tale of mystery and suspense. Shelby may have narrowly escaped with her life, but someone is not done with her. Meanwhile, her best friend's husband went missing on the same night of the attack, making it hard to believe the two incidents weren't related -- and maybe in the worst way. I appreciated that Mack and Shelby were able to maintain their friendship and trust in one another as they grappled with the unimaginable. It was a nice depiction of female friendship and resiliency.

I loved the crew at the Oleander and how invested in their community they were. The podcast bit added a nice touch and I liked how they each played detective in their own ways. There were quite a few characters but once we got to know them better, it was easier to keep track and everyone added something to the story.

This one kept me guessing and I bet it will fool a lot of readers! There were some good red herrings and I liked that the killer didn't feel obvious.

If you like a well-rounded cast of characters, mysteries with a true crime podcast spin, and a book that keeps you on your toes, I definitely recommend!

Thank you to THE PULSE for the advanced copy. Nothing Ever Happens Here releases February 11, 2025 and you don't want to miss it!

Nothing Ever Happens Here captivated me from the start and kept me guessing throughout! As a big fan of twists within twists, I was pleasantly surprised when the story took an unexpected turn! I may have had to backtrack to be sure I read it right! Seraphina Nova Glass has remarkable technique for crafting relatable characters. They may seem like ordinary, nameless members of our collective communities, but her creative embellishments give them personality.

The inclusion of the retirement home residents gave this suspense thriller an edgy-cozy mystery vibe and I loved it! With the small-town setting, paired with the never-ending winter of the Midwest, provided the perfect atmospheric backdrop for this storyline. I’ve lived through many Midwest winters and felt the chill! Glass has become an auto-buy author and Im so grateful for this early copy!

After surviving a terrifying attack, Shelby Dawson tries to move on in her small town with the help of her best friend Mackenzie. However, when she receives threatening messages that mirror her attacker's words, she realizes her nightmare isn't over. As new evidence emerges and mysterious accidents occur, Shelby fears she's being watched. Meanwhile, questions about Mackenzie's missing husband resurface, leading to a race against time to uncover the truth before more lives are at risk.

This book was an exhilarating rollercoaster of a read! From the heart-pounding first chapter to the very end, the story never lets up. The narrative is rich with multiple characters, each with their own unique point of view. We see the world through the eyes of Shelby, Mack, and Florence, with other characters mentioned along the way. Keeping track of everyone can be a challenge at times, but it adds depth to the story.

As the plot unfolds, the suspense builds, drawing the reader in with every twist and turn. Seraphina delivers a gripping tale that keeps you guessing until the very end. While the story may feel a bit overwhelming at times with its many characters and intricate plot, the thrill of the unknown keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout. This book should be on your TBR list!

I really enjoyed this book! My second by Seraphina Nova Glass and it did not disappoint.

There are lots of characters in this book and a lot going on- one mystery after another - and the action starts immediately in chapter one!

Shelby is almost killed after accidentally witnessing a crime, and the same night, her best friend’s husband goes missing. Skip forward fifteen months, and everyone is trying to rebuild their lives, but also seeking answers, and Shelby begins feeling targeted again.

Every single chapter ends on a cliffhanger which I absolutely loved, and I loved the multiple POV especially Florence, and I loved the little gang of elderly friends that live in the senior center that Shelby runs.

Thank you to Thrillerbookloversthepulse, Graydon House, #partner, for an advanced e-copy of Nothing Ever Happens Here in exchange for my honest review.

I’m still relatively new to Seraphina Nova Glass’s books, but after loving her last one, The Vacancy in Room 10, I knew I needed to read more by her! ⁣

Once again, I found myself completely hooked right from the beginning…I mean after that opening chapter, how could you not get wrapped up in what was going on? From there, the twists and turns this book took did not stop.

What I loved most, though, about this book, were the characters. Again we are given such a fun, quirky bunch of characters, especially the “gang” of senior citizens that take it upon themselves to help get to the bottom of everything happens in their town. I am always down for some amateur sleuthing & this gang takes it to a whole new level! ⁣

But don’t think this is a cozy mystery by any means. This is downright sinister & menacing, with plenty of shocking moments. And that small-town feel comes through loud & clear…another of my favorite tropes that works so well in this book! ⁣

I know this isn’t out until February, but I highly recommend adding it to your tbr or even pre-ordering it! You won’t be sorry!⁣

This was such a great read, and my first from this author. I’d say this was more of a cozy mystery than a thriller but still a who dun it. There are a lot of characters in this one but once you get them all straight it’s easy to follow. I loved the older characters and podcast as apart of the story line. If you love cozy mysteries, this is a good winter read

This is my first book by this author so I’m quite excited to start reading this after hearing good things about the author’s previous books.

Told from multiple POVs of Shelby, Mack and Florence – we get to see different side of how the investigation unfold. So many characters means a lot of suspects as well.
I admit it was hard to guess the culprit so I was totally surprised when I read the big reveal.

It took me a while to get hooked into the story cause there’s a lot of characters that I need to keep track of which sometimes confuse me cause I can't remember them fast enough.
But, after I finally remember the key players it was easy to enjoy the flow of the story.

The last few chapters are quite intense and it also where the last unexpected twist takes place. I was really surprised with how this book ends, I didn’t see it coming at all.

Overall, it's a very good cozy small town mystery.
This book won’t be the last time I read by this author, I’m looking forward to read more books by this author in the future.

I inhaled this one in a day! Reminded me immediately of my experience reading The Vacancy in Room 10, which was one of my favorite reads of 2023. Without a doubt, Seraphina Nova Glass is one of my auto-read/auto-buy authors for me!

Shelby and Mack are best friends living in a small town where “nothing ever happens.” Until it does. The same night Shelby survives a surprising attack, Mack’s burned Leo vanishes without a trace. Are the two incidents related? Months later many questions remain and an unlikely group of seniors turned sleuths wants to find answers!

I couldn’t get enough of Florence and her friends from the seniors building Shelby runs! They were quite a cast of characters and kept me engaged and entertained to the max. Multiple points of view, great pacing, amazing villain, I really loved all aspects of this story! This one is already one of my most memorable and favorite reads of 2024. I highly recommend adding this one to your TBR ASAP!

I am absolutely thrilled our @thrillerbookloversthepulse crew got an early & exclusive access to this one! A huge thank you to @htp_books @graydon @netgalley for my ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Thank you to Grayson House and Seraphina Nova Glass for the ARC!

Shelby Dawson survives an awful attack that was meant to kill her. Over a year later, with the help of her best friend Mackenzie, she is finally beginning to feel safe again in her hometown. But all of that is threatened to unravel again when an anonymous note appears on her car. Meanwhile, Mackenzie has questions herself - because her husband disappeared the night Shelby was attacked. And at the heart of this mystery is a group of well-meaning senior citizens that try to get to the bottom of things.

I absolutely loved Seraphina Nova Glass’ previous book, so when I heard that we at Thriller Lovers the Pulse were being offered an exclusive early read, I jumped at the opportunity! I think what I enjoy most about Seraphina’s books are the whole cast of characters she writes. Here, the senior citizen group absolutely had my heart! Their love and devotion to Shelby, and the hilarity that ensued as they tried to peruse the internet for clues, was my favorite part. They truly made me wish I was a part of the story (minus the creepy notes and near death experience, that is!) Although I had a pretty good guess early on who was responsible, I was still on the edge of my seat reading this story! Another fabulous thriller by this author.

This book was so enjoyable! There’s something to be said about a thriller with lots of twists and turns that also has some humor sprinkled in. I loved the Oleander residents (aka “the gang”) so much! Picture a group of retirement home residents deciding to start a true crime podcast to try to help someone they care about. Their antics had me laughing out loud! There were plenty of more serious and edge of the seat moments in this book as well to balance things out. I read Nothing Ever Happens Here in a matter of hours because I was dying to see what would happen next!

📚 PRE-PUBLICATION BOOK TOUR BOOK REVIEW 📚

Nothing Ever Happens Here
By Seraphina Nova Glass
Publication Date: February 11, 2025
Publisher: Graydon House Books

📚MY RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

📚MY REVIEW:

Oh.
My.
God.

I planned to go to bed early and catch up on sleep...Then I picked up Nothing Ever Happens Here. The End.

𝘐𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘐 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸, 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘤.

But there's SO MUCH MORE to say:

This thriller absolutely blew me away! I am not sure when my heart will stop pounding, but this book was too good to care. This story had my pulse racing so fast, my anxiety almost couldn't keep up!

Featuring alternating chapters told from the multiple POVs of several main characters, every chapter seemed to end with a huge cliffhanger that left me on the edge of my seat. Then there would be a chapter or two from other perspectives before returning to the unresolved crisis from a few chapters back. It was a brilliant way to lay out this suspenseful and anxiety-provoking plotline! I do, however, need someone to explain to me why in the actual hell everybody kept going around by themselves in this town with a murderer on the loose who attacked or kidnapped or terrorized people at every turn?! Umm...Buddy system?! Anybody?

As I read, I tangibly felt the tension building at every turn and COULD NOT put this book down. It brought twist after twist with an unpredictable ending...and the book was filled with gripping suspense. This was my first book from this author, and WOW! I get why everybody at Thriller Book Lovers The Pulse was so excited about getting the exclusive of this one -- Glass's writing style is masterful and keeps you holding your breath till the very end.

A massive thank you to Thriller Book Lovers The Pulse, Graydon House Books, and the author herself for this exclusive advanced e-copy and invitation to be a part of the book tour! Plan to set aside time to read this unputdownable thriller when it's released in February!

If all the books coming out in 2025 are as good as this one, we are in for one fantastic year of reading! I am literally doing a happy dance. This one had me at the edge of my seat. Chills sliding down my spine and not just from the below freezing temps brought on by the Minnesota winters. The characters were phenomenally crafted. I loved them all, well except for the bad guy of course. It is told from multiple points of view. Each delving into the mystery and producing new angles and suspects. There are so many twists and turns I feel like I just stepped off a rollercoaster.

A year ago, Shelby's life changed. She stepped into her friend Mack's bakery and there was a man there. Someone she thought she knew, but maybe not. He locked her in the walk-in freezer and left. Her two little girls, asleep in the running car as snowflakes drifted from the dark sky. From that night on Shelby has been plagued with panic attacks. Her best friend Mack's husband disappeared that same night. No one has heard from him. Is he dead? Does he have another family? Where did he go? Could he be linked to Shelby's horrifying night? All these questions begin to resurface as weird occurrences and deaths begin to happen. Making for The Gang at retirement home, feel like they need to get to the bottom of it and fast.

Everyone in The Gang is a star in my book. I alternated between laughing, gasping in shock, and tearing up. As this fearsome group take on the unknown. Willing to put themselves in danger to help Mack and Shelby. This is really a story about friends that are truly family. It reminds me of my own rural small town. Where nothing ever happens and when it does you better watch out. Thank you to Seraphina Nova Glass, Graydon House, and Thriller Book Lovers the Pulse for my gifted copy of this twisty mystery.

Title: Nothing Ever Happens Here
Author: Seraphina Nova Glass
Pub Date: February 11, 2025
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

I heard so many great things about Seraphina Nova Glass’ last book from my team members at Thriller Book Lovers The Pulse, so when I heard we got the exclusive to read it early, I couldn’t wait and it did not disappoint!!

This book starts out strong from the very beginning and keeps you hooked until the end! After surviving a brutal attack, Shelby Dawson tries to move on with her life. However, over a year later, she receives an anonymous note that indicates that the nightmare is not over and that her attacker is back and wants to finish what he or she started. With the help of her best friend, Mackenzie, and her senior citizen friends who live at the retirement home that she runs, Shelby desperately tries to figure out who is behind her attack and the other mysterious accidents that begin to happen to the people around her!

This story is told from multiple points of view and is filled with mystery, tension, and tons of red herrings to keep you guessing! I loved the dynamic between all of characters, especially Florence and the other senior citizens who became instant sleuths as they help investigate the crimes when their podcast goes viral. They also added an element of humor to this suspenseful twisty thriller and gave it a bit of a cozy mystery vibe at times, which I loved! If you are a thriller fan, you will definitely want to read this one! Set in a snowy Minnesota town, it is the perfect book to add to your winter TBR!

Nothing Ever Happens Here starts with a tension-filled scene that keeps you guessing who and why throughout the rest of the book.

Glass paints a vivid picture of the colorful characters in a typical small town - from the busybodies to the gossip mongers and a police force that hardly ever sees any real action. What really struck me was how Glass captured the true essence of rural Minnesota life - from the ice fishing to the early onset of darkness at 4 p.m., and even Perkins (my go-to spot after a night out in college). Adding to the suspense is the bone-chilling winter setting she creates: the eerie stillness when the temperatures drop below zero, and the only sound you hear is the crunch of snow under your feet as you dash to your car, desperately hoping it starts.

Amid all the suspense and unease, Glass introduces a quirky group of senior citizens who join forces to unravel the mystery of Leo’s disappearance. Their presence infuses the story with well-timed humor, creating a cozy mystery atmosphere within the heart of a thrilling plot. I absolutely loved this "gang," particularly Florence, whose fearless attitude left me hoping I'll be just as gutsy when I'm her age.

Make sure to add this to your winter reading list! It's a gripping small-town thriller with multiple twists, filled with endearing characters and an ending that will leave you shocked and - for me quite impressed. Bravo!

Seraphina Nova Glass always brings the drama! Nothing Ever Happens Here focuses upon Shelby Dawson who as a survivor of a traumatic attack has trouble with trust and sometimes getting through her day. She moves home to be near her best friend but it isn't long before a note appears on her windshield threatening her life. Simultaneously we learn about Mackenzie (Mack) whose husband disappeared with most of their money. Mack is afraid for the future and still wondering what happened to Leo.

Nova Glass creates almost a story within the story with the introduction of a group of senior citizens who know both women and their families.
ove past it—for herself, and for her family. Fifteen months later, with the help of her best friend, Mackenzie, she finally feels safe again in the snowy Minnesota town she calls home. But when an anonymous note appears on her windshield bearing the same threats her attacker made, Shelby realizes that her nightmare has only just begun.

It's a great thriller that keeps you turning the pages quickly. I miss the senior group already and wonder if there could be another book? I would grab it in a minute. If you love a thriller, this one will keep you guessing! thank you Net Galley and Thrillerbookloversthepulse

It's been fifteen months since Shelby Dawson survived an attack that almost left her dead. She's finally starting to feel safe again in her smalltown of Minnesota, and then a letter shows up on her windshield. It makes the same threats her attacker made all those months ago. When new evidence about Shelby's case emerges and a group of well-meaning senior citizens takes it upon themselves to open their own investigation that goes viral online, people around Shelby start to get hurt. Meanwhile, Shelby's best friend Mack, whose husband mysteriously disappeared the same night of Shelby's attack, has questions of her own she's investigating. Her husband had hidden accounts, racked up debts, and mismanaged their money. Now Mack also suspects he may be alive.

Grab your cozy blanket and settle in because once you start this book, you will not want to put it down. Between Shelby's attacker, a missing husband, and meddling seniors, my head was reeling. I absolutely loved the smalltown setting of this one and the fact that I had zero clue of who the suspect was. Usually, I have a guess or two, but this time, I was completely in the dark, and when it was revealed, I was floored. I loved Florence and the meddling seniors. Not only did they bring some needed comic relief at times, but they were so kindhearted, caring, and heartwarming. This mystery kept me riveted until the very end!

Nothing ever disrupts the seemingly serene surface in the quiet town of Rivers Crossing, Minnesota—until that fateful night. Attempted murder, a missing local businessman—the echoes of those events linger, unsolved over a year later. But when new evidence emerges and strange occurrences multiply, a group of unlikely sleuths steps forward: the Ole gang, a spirited crew of senior citizens residing at The Olelander assisted living facility.

Nothing Ever Happens Here hooked me from the start. Rivers Crossing residents harbor many secrets. The suspense builds early, and the multiple viewpoints provide all kinds of insights. But, figuring out who the killer is will keep you guessing until the final reveal. Glass masterfully keeps us on our toes.

I loved The Ole Gang. These seniors defy stereotypes. Their determination to connect the dots—aided by a quirky podcast—infuses the story with cozy mystery vibes. You’ll root for their tenacity and chuckle at their unconventional methods.

Nothing Ever Happens Here is a must-read for mystery lovers seeking small-town charm and a cast of unforgettable characters!

Many thanks to Harlequin Trade Publishing and Grayson House for an early copy of this book.

Seraphina is unique. The way she writes people – I don’t think I can think of anyone else who writes characters like she does.
Her characters make me feel like I want to have them in my life. I want to be a part of their fictional lives. She writes people that speak to my heart and my soul. She writes people that feel like they are my tribe. She doesn’t just write found family – she writes the most soulful found family.
If you loved the pool girls and all the other quirkies from Vacancy in Room 10, then you will absolutely fall in love with the adorable, quirky and SO SO SO ALIVE elderly people in this book.
While the book is more of a mystery than a psych thriller, and while the mystery part is somewhat very, very cozy, I feel like the real power of this book lies in those absolutely awesome characters. In their depth, in their quirkiness, in their being flawed yet lovable, and in the way they are written.

This is yet again one of those books I was glad to be able to read so well far in advance before anyone else gets to read it – the book’s pub date is set to next year only.

✨Book review ✨

I’m a big fan of @seraphinanovaglass and have read all her books to date. As soon as I saw that @thrillerbookloversthepulse had an exclusive to read her new book early, I threw my TBR out the window and immediately got reading.

I’m happy to report that Nothing Ever Happens Here is a great read. The book perfectly combines twists and turns with cozy vibes and humour.

Glass has a knack for balancing plot, pace, and character development. The way she integrates “the gang” from the Oleander into the darker mystery plot is #goals. These retirees/true crime podcasters/ amateur sleuths are the characters I did not know I needed in my life and now cannot live without. Just trust me; it works.

I’m a big fan of Florence. When I’m retired, I want to be a combination of her and Minnie. # lifegoals.

The only downside of reading Nothing Ever Happens Here early is that I have to wait longer for Seraphina Nova Glass’s next book. I know it will be worth the wait!

Trust me, you’ll want this one on your 2025 TBR!

Thank you to the publisher and @netgalley for the gifted copy.

"It's a death omen. The words pierce the evening air and then are lost in the surrounding laughter and chatter." -- "Nothing Ever Happens Here" by Seraphina Nova Glass

The phrase death omen piqued my curiosity. After a quick Google search, I realized that while the term was unfamiliar to me, the underlying meaning resonated.

I'm really into books paired with podcasts, and "Nothing Ever Happens Here" has an intriguing one. It doesn't enter until later in the book, but it's worth the wait.

When #ThePulse offered me an advanced copy of this book, I eagerly accepted. The author's last book left me in awe, and I have a soft spot for the unique and captivating characters she crafts. This book is brimming with them. Initially, the large cast of characters felt overwhelming—I prefer a smaller ensemble to get to know each character, lol!

The story kicks off with a bang, so get ready for a rollercoaster ride!

Thank you to the author, The Pulse, and Graydon House for this gifted ARC received via NetGalley. All my thoughts are genuine and willingly shared.
