From USA Today bestselling author, Julie Mulhern, comes a short worthy of the Country Club Murders name.

For Aggie DeLucci, former assistant private investigator and current housekeeper extraordinaire, 1975 is turning out to be a banner year. There’s a new man her life, Mac. He makes her laugh, takes her dancing, and makes a helluva salami sandwich.

When Mac is accused of theft, it’s up to Aggie to clear his name. She’ll have to polish her slightly tarnished investigative kills and tame her fears (and her hair) to catch the real thief.

You would think writing a short story, especially a mystery, would be very difficult thing to do. However, author Julie Mulhern did so flawlessly. She pack all of the aspects of a full sized mystery into one amazing short story.

I thought everything was going to be tied up in a nice, tidy bow when a suspect is named early on. I should have known it wouldn’t all be so easy. Mulhern did a twisty turn that took me completely by surprise!

DIAMOND GIRL has great relationships among the characters, a cunning mystery, and as always, Julie Mulhern’s writing is nothing short of perfection.

Ellison Russell helps her housekeeper, Aggie, quickly solve a mystery concerning stolen jewelry when the new man in Aggie’s life, Mac, is accused of the suspicious thefts. Aggie is moving on with her life after her husband’s death from cancer, and is happy to help delve for clues to prove Mac’s innocence. The search for suspects is swiftly narrowed down and solved. Short and sweet Valentine’s Day story.

This was an enjoyable short story. It was fun to see the story told from Aggie’s perspective. The Country Club Mysteries is a great series. I can just imagine what Aggie looked like after the makeover that
Ellison Russell helped with. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Not up to Julie Mulhern's usual standard; however, for super-fans like me, it will be enough.

This Country Club short story concentrates on Aggie, rather than Ellison Russel. As a result, there is not much about the Country Club, no Frances Walford, no Anarchy Jones (but Mr Coffee does make several appearances!), and not a dead body in sight. That does not mean that the story is any less enjoyable than the other stories – it just has a slightly different focus.
Aggie has been mourning her dead husband (and private-eye partner) for a long time, but has now met a nice widower, who is making her very happy: “Al is gone, taken too soon by cancer. I miss him every day. Mac is here. And Mac has a rare salami.” (Mac’s salami is relevant to the story). Naturally, things cannot run smoothly, or there would be no story. Mac is accused of stealing Mrs Clayton’s pearls whilst catering for her party, and it turns out that he has a past, though swears he has nothing to do with the theft. Aggie is determined to clear his name: “I do believe him. But a jewel thief and missing pearls go together like chocolate and peanut butter”. Normally, it is Aggie assisting Ellison Russell, but this time it is Ellison, with her expert knowledge of the Country Club ladies and their habits who comes to Aggie’s (and Mac’s) aid.
There are several twists and turns in this short story and it keeps your interest throughout. This could be read as a stand-alone, but is probably better if you are familiar with the Country Club setting. It certainly makes an excellent job of filling a “Country Club” gap, while we await the next full-length instalment.

Very short story with Ellison’s maid as the narrator. It was great to find out a bit more about her and a nice tease while waiting for the next Country Club Murder book to come out.

A short, fun mystery that makes you smile.

I love the Country Club mysteries and this short mystery was no exception! Aggie DeLucci who used to be an investigator and who is trying to get over the untimely death of her husband, Al works as a housekeeper for a wealthy socialite, Ellison Russell. She has begun dating Mac who owns the local butcher shop where her employer must buy her salami from and who caters the wealthy people's parties. When he caters a party, with Aggie and her niece's help, he becomes accused of stealing jewelry from the home. He goes to Aggie at the Russell home to beg her to help him find out who really did it since he didn't do it, even though he has a little shady past. When Ellison overhears the conversation, she comes into the room and agrees Mac is innocent and she and Aggie must figure out who really is the thief. I loved the kind-hearted and feisty character of Ellison and of course Aggie who seems to be getting her life back together. This is a short, read in one sitting fun story that makes you want more of Ellison and Aggie.

Diamond Girl is the latest entry in Julie Mulhern’s Country Club Murders series. This short story edition revolves around Aggie Delucci, Ellison Russell’s housekeeper—think Hazel and picture Aggie. Aggie has been a friend, confidant, and the stern stuff that keeps her adopted family safe.

In this story Aggie, a widow of some years, has discovered a new fellow, Mac, who has also lost his spouse. As their romance progresses, he sends flowers regularly and Ellison and her friends have found a great new caterer. But after Mac is accused of stealing jewelry from one of the folks he has catered, and then another.

Aggie believes in him and Ellison believes in Aggie. And when they learn that there have been many such thefts, together they come up with a plan to determine who is really behind the jewel thefts.

Another delightful story in a very well done series. Plus, this story gives more depth to the Aggie character besides introducing another enjoyable character in Mac. I only hope to see him in the series stories to come. I did enjoy the story and do recommend it. I also look forward to the next book in this series.

Sweet Diamond in the Rough
It's good to get to know Aggie DeLucci a little better in "Diamond Girl," the first short story in Julie Mulhern's Country Club Murder Mysteries. For those of you reading anything in the series for the first time, Aggie keeps house for series heroine Ellison Russell and she has a rather salty sense of humor. She's sort of rough around the edges in contrast to the more refined Mrs. Russell. Aggie is also a detective's widow, so she knows a thing or two about investigating crime. This comes in handy when her new boyfriend is accused of theft. Though the story shows considerable depth as Aggie ponders finding new love while she still grieves for her husband, still overall it's a fun story with the special treat of visiting Kansas City in 1975.

DYNAMITE IN A SMALL PACKAGE!

Julie Mulhern has managed to give us a fantastic mystery in short form! It stars Aggie and her new love interest Mac who has a catering business and Aggie’s employer, Ellison Russell. There’s been an incident and it is up to Aggie & Ellison to save the day. Mulhern manages to take us on a quick adventure that gives you background info on Aggie’s life, involves you with all the characters, keeps you intrigued with the story and makes you wonder when Ellison is going to find the dead body! Life with the Country Club set is still not dull but Aggie is now a full-fledged player!

4.5 Stars

This is the 6.5 book in the Country Club Murders series by Julie Mulhern. It is a novella and only 39 pages long.

This book kind of threw me since I am used to reading from the POV of Ellison Russell. This features her housekeeper and friend Aggie DeLucci in the main POV. Ellison is merely a secondary character.

Someone is stealing stuff and making it look like her boyfriend Mac is doing it since the only common denomiator is that he was the caterer at each event. Addie enlists Ellison’s help and they set forth to prove Mac’s innocence and reveal the true culprit.

Great story but much too short for my liking. Nice to see Aggie's POV and more details about her come to light.

Short story in the Country Club series features Aggie, Ellison Russell's housekeeper.

Aggie's life outside of the Russell household is complicated. Being a widow meeting a widower is a whole new world. When said widower needs Aggie's help, Aggie turns to Ellison and together they tackle finding the thief operating in Ellison's social circle, no matter what it costs Aggie to do so.

A very quick read that has me waiting for more!

When her new boyfriend Mac gets accused of stealing from the rich women while catering their parties, Aggie steps in to prove he’s innocent.
I love that she’s got a boyfriend. She’s such a fun character.
It’s a cute little short read that gets right to the point. And part of it takes place on Valentines Day, so today was a good day to read it.
