Tales That Tell the Truth

Any Time, Any Place, Any Prayer: A True Story of How You Can Talk With God

Rate this book
When children have something on their minds, they tend to run to their parents and caregivers. Wouldn't it be great if they also learned that they can talk to God about anything and everything because Jesus has made that possible?

This beautifully illustrated Bible storybook, by Risen Motherhood co-founder Laura Wifler, takes children on a journey from the start of the Bible story to the end. From Eden and God's presence, through the fall, redemption, and the Spirit's presence with us now, to our presence with God in the future, God has always made a way for his people to talk with him. Children will learn a biblical understanding of prayer, why it's amazing, and that they can enjoy talking with God about anything, anytime, anywhere.

Includes Jesus' teaching on the Lord's Prayer to help children know how to pray.

If prayer is talking to God, it should be simple, right?

Isn’t it interesting then, how hard it can be sometimes.

As we teach and model prayer in our families, Any Time, Any Place, Any Prayer: A True Story of How You Can Talk With God by Laura Wifler, helps explain the practice of prayer through the lens of the gospel.

She shows us how in the beginning, along the quiet trails of the garden, Adam and Eve walked and talked with the Lord; portraying the closeness of relationship the good Creator intended. When they disobeyed the Lords instruction, their relationship was broken, reminding us, “because of sin prayer was sometimes hard.”

Laura points out how God’s people continued to pray, naming examples of who and what they prayed, then how God sent Jesus as the ultimate answer, redeeming us and restoring our relationship with God. Now we can continue to pray any time, any place, with any prayer until he comes back to restore all things and we will talk to him again just like it was in the garden.

I read this book with my kids, they re-read it to each other, and I saw how the catchy title now comes up in our conversations when we talk about prayer; the kids quickly remember, “any time, any place, any prayer.”

It’s beautifully illustrated, and a helpful tool as we teach our kids to pray.

Outstanding!

Clear and practical examples of prayer, beginning in the Garden of Eden until arrival at the gates of heaven.

"Until then, we can talk with God - any time, any place, any prayer."

It's a book that children will want to read over and over again.

What I like about the book:
the illustrations are unique, almost childlike drawings, appealing, and expressive.
Sin- is not only identified "they chose not to trust and obey him, and this is called sin."
Separation from God because of sin is explained simply and appropriately.
Prayer is clearly defined, explained, and brought in with practical strategies, and feelings.
Who God is- one who wants to communicate with people- is a clearly presented message.
Biblical examples are pictured and captioned, plus the references to their events in history are listed with the image.
The book teaches the concept of the hypostatic union clearly (without the official term) the book presents and repeats that Jesus is both God and man.
The book presents the gospel message clearly: God created man, man sinned, that separated him from God, God made a way because He loves us so, he sent his Son, Jesus, to live a sinless perfect life as God and Man, died on the cross for to pay for our sins, and was raised from the dead, and when Jesus went to be with God, He gave us the Holy Spirit to live in us.
The book has small humorous quips that will make the kids giggle.
It references known people of prayer as well as biblical connections.
It reinforces, teaches clearly, and emphasizes how and what to pray to God, as well as the anytime, anyplace concept. I won't spoil too much of the book, but I love it.

What I wonder about the book:
It is 32 pages, it covers so much doctrine and so many concepts beyond prayer. Will it be too much for the littles it is intended for? or because of the humor, the simplicity, the illustrations, will it just be a read again, read again, again book for the littles, and they will grasp it all with repetition.

Educational Connections:
all the biblical references who modeled prayer.
the Lord's prayer.
Historical prayer warriors to explore.
think of all the fun you can have writing your own examples with the kids of any time, anyplace, anywhere stories and examples.
Jesus is God and Man. Hypostatic Union (this would make the book go with even older students).
The Gospel message.

Thankful to partner with the goodbook company and encourage you to pre-order the book, get the bonuses, and look forward to its September arrival. I am not an affiliate and do not make any money from the goodbook company- I just love their books and find them so helpful in my home and ministry.

I always enjoy books from the Tales that Tell the Truth series, and even though this book focuses on prayer instead of telling a particular Bible story, it is still narrative-driven. Laura Wifler opens the book with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, explaining that even though they could walk and talk as friends with God, after they sinned, they wanted to hide from God and not talk to Him. Any Time, Any Place, Any Prayer emphasizes that God always wants us to talk to Him, and the book highlights the role of prayer in biblical history and tells the story of Jesus. The exuberant text shares the joy and hope that we have in the gospel, knowing that in Christ, there is no longer anything separating us from God.

The book includes examples of historical figures characterized by prayer, such as Susanna Wesley and Civil Rights leader John Perkins, and the last pages encourage children to pray, giving examples of the kinds of feelings and situations that they can take to God every day. The book ends with a beautiful page spread imagining heaven, where we will be with God one day. Catalina Echeverri's illustrations are beautiful, striking, and unique throughout the book, and this last page made me gasp. She consistently does beautiful work, and I love how her art ties this series together, even though the books come from a range of different authors.

Any Time, Any Place, Any Prayer is a beautiful, high-quality book that celebrates the story of Jesus and encourages kids to pray. I would highly recommend this to Christian families, churches, and Christian schools, and parents and teachers should check out some of the free resources related to the book that are available on the Good Book Company website. This is a great book for kids and their adults to enjoy together, and the whole-picture, gospel-focused emphasis on prayer is very inspiring.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

* I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and all thoughts are my own.

This storybook is Gospel-centered, using simple words to walk children through the beginning of time and ways Adam and Eve communicated with God. It carries through the fall of man when sin entered the world, and shows that even though our relationship with God changed because of sin, our communication with Him could still be any time, any place.

The story continues to show Jesus arrival, life, death and resurrection, and the intercession of the Holy Spirit. It reinforces the idea that God has always provided a way to communicate with Him. It shows how we can express our love for Him as well as our needs for forgiveness, guidance and help. The book continues with intercession for others, gratitude for what God has given us and demonstrates a handful of places kids can pray, reminding them that any time, any place is perfect for prayer!

The illustrations in this storybook are so sweet and engaging! My daughter, age 3, loved pointing out the various expressions and activities the children and people in this book were doing. The illustrations are diverse, both showing people of color and inclusive of children with disabilities. On many pages, there are little blurbs giving short, child-like examples of prayer.

In summary, this book offers a very BIG, important truth in a simple way that is easy for children to grasp and understand while also depicting a picture of the Gospel and the various roles of the Holy Trinity. I believe this is an excellent conversation starter for children on the importance of prayer while showing children both how and when to pray and I highly recommend it!

How can you teach your children about the privilege of prayer? In Any Time, Any Place, Any Prayer, Laura Wifler & Catalina Echeverri present a true story of how you can talk with God.

Communion and Communication
In just about 30 pages, this book encourages your children to come to God in prayer for anything and everything. At the center of the story is how our communion (and communication) was broken by sin but has now been restored by the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

What I loved most about this book is how it places prayer within the story of the Biblical narrative. God’s people have always talked to him, and God has always spoken to them. Prayer has always been important to God’s people.

Go to God in Prayer
With beautiful illustrations by Catalina Echeverri, your children will see that we can go to God in any situation. God wants us to talk to him about all of our lives, all of our emotions, and all of our feelings. The colorful pages reinforce the fact that a vibrant prayer life is possible.

While perfect for ages 3-6, this hardcover book will carry special meaning to older children as they practice the habit of prayer. This book has a message that we all need to hear. God is never far away. He is quick to listen. He wants to hear us. And he has spoken back to us in Jesus.

I received a media copy of Any Time, Any Place, Any Prayer and this is my honest review.

Any Time, Any Place, Any Prayer is the latest book in the Tales that Tell the Truth Series by The Good Book Company. In this book, author and podcast host Laura Wifler helps children understand that a relationship with God is cultivated by constant communion with Him through prayer. I love that Any Time, Any Place, Any Prayer begins with the storyline of Scripture and explains the gospel message simply. Readers of all ages will be encouraged as they read about how believers have access to God any time and at any place because of Jesus. Children are encouraged to take their requests both big and small, serious and silly, to God knowing that He hears them.

The book contains references to all persons of the trinity which I am thankful for. It seems that Christian literature, even for adults, can often emphasize the Father and the Son while neglecting the Holy Spirit. I was encouraged as I read Laura's reminder to children that the Holy Spirit lives in believers and is with them all the time.

The illustrations in the book include children of all diversities and abilities which I'm thankful for because they accurately reflect what God's kingdom looks like. Overall, my kids and I really enjoyed Any Time, Any Place, Any Prayer and we look forward to reading more in the Tales That Tell the Truth series.

I received Any Time, Any Place, Any Prayer compliments of The Good Book Company in exchange for my honest review.

I love this storybook! It is not only adorable (it does have some very well done, eye appealing illustrations), but it is also a great way to introduce your children to prayer. It contains a wealth of knowledge for such a short picture book. Within its pages are solid Biblical truths, all centered around the topic of prayer. It is an excellent way to teach children what prayer is, why we need to pray, how Jesus taught us to pray, plus so much more. I was amazed at just how detailed a storybook could be! It has been a wonderful read aloud for my youngest who no wreads it on her own because she enjoyed it so much that she keeps going back for more. She is now saying she would like to take it to church and read it to some of the younger kids or in the nursery/toddlers classes. If your family is looking for a way to teach your children about prayer, this is the book you need to add to your family library. It is well written, easy to understand, and Biblically based. I highly recommend this book for parents of younger children. (And though it is best suited for ages 2 to 5, my daughter is 7 and loved it. There is still plenty to learn from it at any age!)

Prayer is a spiritual discipline in progress for me and I want my kiddos to grow along with me. And I love Laura Wifler’s writing. But, I was on the fence about purchasing this book. Like, did I really need another children’s book? And isn’t prayer pretty self explanatory?

However, I decided to go ahead and get this one. And I’m so glad I did!

This book comprehensively covers the history, need for, and how to’s of prayer, all in a beautifully illustrated, approachable, and fun way. My 3 year old sat still and listened to the entire book in one sitting and it sparked some good conversations.

I heartily recommend this book and look forward to continuing to use it in discipling my daughters!

Talking with God as your friend because of Jesus. This book does a great job exploring the reality and wonder of prayer for kids. This is a biblical theology of prayer at a level kids can understand. Because of what Jesus has done, we can pray to God about anything, anytime, anyplace. Included are suggested categories of things to pray about and example short prayers. This book is a part of the Tales that Tell the Truth series for young children (ages 3-6) from The Good Book Company. This series is among my absolute favorites for my little kiddos.

I've been listening to the Risen Motherhood podcast for six years, loved the Risen Motherhood book for myself and I was excited when I saw that Laura Wifler was branching into writing children's books! I appreciated that the book starts at the beginning, with Adam and Eve, moves through the Bible, mentions a couple heroes of faith, and ends with us talking to God... any time, any place, any prayer.

Wifler begins with how Adam & Eve walked and talked with God in person, then moves to the way people continue to talk with God through prayer. She emphasizes repeatedly that we can talk to God about anything, at any time, in any place we are, and he will listen. This is a great way to explain the concept of prayer to a child.

This is another excellent book in the Tales that Tell the Truth series. Catalina Echeverri is an incredibly talented, inspiring illustrator. I particularly loved how from the beginning to the end of the book, you saw people in the Bible and then later modern kids praying the same prayers in their own circumstances.

By far my favorite book in this series! It has a great overview of the gospel in easy language that my both my two and four year old can understand. This is my go to book when we are all feeling frustrated with each other and need to reflect on God’s grace and our sin as a family. It’s helped both my children understand the concept of prayer and how they desperately need Jesus.

I read this book to the kindergarteners I help teach at church on Sundays, and they were enthralled. The beautiful illustrations work wonderfully with the simple but elegant message. The entire scope of the gospel is captured in this accessible discussion about prayer. I highly recommend this as a resource for parents of young kiddos who want to help their children understand more about prayer.

Review by Elena - age 7

It was about Jesus and God. Jesus died on the cross and he made friends with the people and he told them he had to leave but He would send his Spirit until he came back.
