This is my first book written in Japanese that I'm attempting to read through (aka translate every second bloody kanji, lol)

- It'll take me a few months I figure. But nothing like using one of your favourite anime to work through until the movie comes out on DVD in April to check how much I understood and read correctly ;)

What I've learnt from this book in just 3 pages so far?
Kanji is a never ending cesspool of mental torture *cough* - I mean, I will be able to read proficiently in Japanese someday. >.>

APRIL 19th:
Well finished the book, indeed kanji is a never ending cesspool of mental torture, lol.
I kinda got the gist of the story and was able to visualise fairly well despite being partially illiterate in this language. There is furigana for the trickier words so some help is about but a person may need to check the dictionary a thousand times as well...

Having seen the movie 2 days ago, it was bizarre to have known the lines but not 'seen' the montages, still, it's a nice feeling to know that I can 'semi read' a Japanese novel.

The movie itself has been rated as one of the highest of the lot. The 12 kids all working together this time will appeal to most fans since their favourite character will get some limelight and the cinematography is just breathtaking.
For the 10th anniversary movie, they definitely put a lot of heart into it. :)
The book itself is just as fun (if perhaps more?) - so definitely enjoyable reads for those literate or wishing to challenge themselves in Japanese.
For it to be my first novel, I couldn’t have picked anything better, onto the next challenges. ^^
