“She was not a rusty nail, as she had once told him, or a hot poker, or a blade in Ryzek’s hand. She was a hushflower, all power and possibility. Capable of doing good and harm in equal measure.”
It’s obviously not the best by any means, it’s just nostalgia for me at this point. The plot is unoriginal and done 1000 times before but Akos and Cyra really spoke to me. I loved them then and I love them now, they’re sweet and naive and pure...more

Thank God this wasn't first-person pov because I couldn't get through half of Wren's chapters. This dragged and dumped; maybe it's just me, but I wanted so much more in this addition, especially since it's a duology. The first half was extended as shit; I think HB realized she's running out of pages because in the second half we were surfing through the plot....more

I also think it’s too similar to FlatShare by Beth O’Leary which is also a book I didn’t like...more

- plot dragged - the secondary characters got wayyy too many appearances - the whole book felt like an epilogue - the romance between Al and Laz could’ve been more cutesy than sex - the scenes between Al and Laz were good though, and I enjoyed reading them and they even made me smile - the final fight made me cry and break - i liked the little twist at the end with Kallius even though it felt very disney channel types - overall not too bad but it was my biggest anticipation and didn’t really meet MY expectations but I’m glad others enjoyed it...more

seriously Tory and Darcy who???? SAY HELLO TO MAX AND GERALDINE LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. They ruled this book. I loved every interaction between them and I think Max is my official favorite heir.
Some of the few things I liked about this book were :
♈️Max and Geraldine
“Vega Ass-licker!” he barked, using air to propel himself back to his feet. Some of the few things I liked about this book were :
♈️Max and Geraldine
“Vega Ass-licker!” he barked, using air to propel himself back to his feet. “Griffin turd bather!” she shouted back and laughter rang out through The Orb which I was definitely joining in with.”
♉️ Darcy and Orion. Duh
“I didn’t mean to upset you,” he said, sounding lost. “I don’t apologise very often. It’s not a very Fae thing to do. Did I not do it right?”
♊️the moment with the heirs hugging
“Well maybe I just don’t like hugging you,” he teased, pulling a pouch of stardust from his pocket. A stab of hurt came from Seth and I frowned. “Don’t be a dick, Darius,” I snapped, squeezing Seth tighter. “Oh for fuck’s sake,” Darius muttered. “Come here then, puppy.” Seth bounded out of the chair and leapt on Darius like he’d just declared his undying love for him instead of offering a consolation hug. He jumped into Darius’s arms and knocked him back onto the bed where they fell on top of Cal who got dragged into the hug too.”
The rest was okay. The love triangle is getting deeper and I hate it. Sorry but I cant stand love triangles and the only one I tolerated here was between darcy Orion and the tree they fucked against.
“Stay,” he breathed, tracking his finger down my arm. “You know I can't,” I sighed. “It's too risky.” He sighed, lifting his hips to tug out the duvet beneath us and drawing it around us like a cocoon. He released a feral noise in his throat. “Five more minutes then I’ll take you back,”
Seth. baby. I hate you but you’re so adorable when you’re needy and clingy
Xavier. baby. You need to be protected at all costs. I love his character so much. My lil marshmallow.
The ending was not what I wanted if I’m being honest, I think I understand where Tory’s mistrust comes from obviously but I hate that there’s going to be more bs coming because I can already sense vengeance.
But beside that the actual academy scenes were fun. I like the friend group they’ve got going on and the trials were written well enough for me to only skip a few pages....more
