I've been dying to read Parker's story since we met her in book 1. It was a nice conclusion to the quartet and it wrapped everything up in a nice neat little package.
The title was perfect and Mal was my favourite character among the eight people involved. I loved how he could get under Parker's skin. She was always so calm and collected and he was one person who could disrupt her.
Great read! I missed Nora Roberts and I will be sure to pick up another of her books soon!...more

The romance was very sweet and it was nice watch it develop in a normal way rather then... love at first sight. Jack was great but I was totally with Emma on his ability not to share his secrets.
It was not very real life 'esque' considering there would be a lot more problems with the head of the company dating a low level employee but it certainly is nice to jump into a dream happy ending.
Thank you to my Secret Santa who picked this book for me!...more

This was probably my favourite but not by much. Yelena has discovered her true self and is scared of what her true power means for her and those she cares about.
With a group of evil Warpers out to get her and take over Sitia and soon after Ixia Yelena needs to come up with a plan fast. Soon all of the Sitian council is against her and she is fighting for her life and a place in the world.
Valek of course comes to the rescue again making this book 100 times better just by his presence on the page. Again I am in awe of the authors ability to make a relationship like theirs come to life on paper. Without Valek these books wouldn't have been nearly as good.
In addition to Valek I would have to say another notable character was Leif... I loved him and I hope maybe he will someday get a happily ever after as well.
I look forawrd to gettign into Opal's story soon. Her story was set up very well in the end. Great twists and turns in this one. This is a set of books I look forward to reliving in the future. ...more

Yelena is such a strong character and she proves every bit of it in this book. Although her decisions are not always right and thought out she does everything for the right reasons and manages to come out okay in the end. Even after everything she has been through she manages to still have a lot more love for her fellow man then she should.
Now the best parts of the book were of course Valek. Although he wasn't a major character you can feel his presence always. Yelena stays true to him and I never felt her emotions for him sway ever. Their love just was. When we did see him he managed to make my heart beat faster and get a little flushed. He would have given up anything for Yelena. Although I wasn't sure about their relationship after book 1 I know now that they are not traditional people and so they manage to have one of the strongest relationships I've ever seen on paper.
I look forward to the next book and what else will be in store for Yelena and all the other characters I've come to love. I look forward to the conclusion and seeing what comes of them all. ...more

Chess is assigned to another high profile case and finds herself in a bigger mess then she could have expected. Chess really lost a lot of self respect in this book, it was painful to take that trip with her.
Terrible is still our main man but something happens that transforms him in this book but I don't want to go to far into it because it would ruin the story. To be honest I can't wait to find out what happens with him next.
This book was GREAT! I loved it. So much different from what I am used to but wonderful all the same. Chess and Terrible are climbing the ladder of my favourite characters ever. ...more

Chess yet again is asked to do the impossible in this book by her employers. She takes on a case bigger then she could have possibly imagined and does everything she can to ensure the few things she actually cares about are taken care of.
She pulls of some pretty excellent sleuthing in this book. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I couldn't figure out without reading. All sorts of twists and turns that kept me glued to the pages. I tried to go slowly through the book and enjoy it but I still zoomed through much to fast. For now I have a lonely whole in my life that I'm afraid no book will be up to the challenge of filling more many days to come.
I love Chess and I love Terrible (every time Terrible's name was on the page I just couldn't pull myself away FOR ANYTHING) and I love everything about the Downside Ghosts series.
Thank you Ms. Kane for writing such a wonderful, exciting book!

I think my favouriteThis turned out to be one of my all time favourite historical romances. The beauty and the beast theme will never get old for me.
I think my favourite part of this story was that the heroine and I share a name and it was very easy for me to slip into the daydream of being her. Whenever Sebastien sighed "Jess" it sent shivers down my spine!
I loved the beginning. It pulled me in right from thew start and it flowed so wonderfully from there. I've always been a fan of the broken slightly 'unhandsome' in a handsome kind of way hero. I think that is why I loved it so much... and even more the heroine never saw him as 'ugly' which really pulled soem serious heart strings for me.
I started out rating this 4 stars but changed my mind and bumped it up to 5... it was soooo good!
If anyone has any other suggestions with similar story lines I'd love to hear them!

When a fairy jester wants revenge on the beautiful laird Hawk he brings Adrienne through time to taunt him. But what he doesn't know is the power of true love. ( I know so corny right!)
I had a hard time developing my own view of the characters while reading this book. It was like they were blank images in my head. I wish the author would have developed them a little bit better ... and perhaps had Hawk actaully falling in love with Adrienne in a more "real" sort of way. He just seemed to be in love and that was it. At least it took her a while to come to the conclusion... and she trase dhim all the way. It was delightful!
Overall though the book was cute and no matter what I like a good time travel/ historical/ romance/ paranormal story every now and again. I will likely continue the series as I've heard it goes uphill from here.

Our heroine didn't fit into the perfect mold but Taka was still very drawn to her. It was wonderful to watch the hatred between the two turn into something more.
It was nice to see some familiar faces, Peter, Genny, Isobel and a new face as well ... Jilly ... which I thought was a wonderful tie in to an upcoming book.
I really like how this author can bring so much to these books. Secret service agents, explosions, guns, chemical warfare, crazy cult leaders and of course... love!...more

CHloe was a What a wonderful book! It was a little slow to get goign but once it took off I could barely keep up with my need to gobble up the pages.
CHloe was a strong determined (and quite young) heroine. Smart enough to get caught up in a mess that would have been better if she was just a brainless interpreter.
Bastien is a cold man who is undercover completing a mission when Chloe walks into his life and everything changes from there.
I loved the chemistry between them and I really liked the cold conversations they had and then when they lay in the bed together in the safe house. that was when my heart swayed to Bastien and there was no goign back from there.

ChessNot what I was expecting and all in all a very delightful read. I'm always one to root for the underdog and it seems both our MCs are underdogs. Chess - a church witch with a bad drug problem and Terrible the huge, ugly enforcer for Chess's drug dealer. Both characters had a charm about them I found myself liking their characters even though I didn't necessarily like everything that they did and the choices they made.
The story takes place in the future after ghosts have come back and killed off a large number of the earth's population. Chess works for the Church of Truth which keeps the ghost under control. All other governments and religious establishments are no more. Chess gets sucked in over her head when her drug dealer wants her to banish ghosts for him... without the Church's permission. She isn't left with much choice with a large debt hanging over her head.
Things get pretty crazy near the end of this book. The action is unbelievable and frankly, a little frightening. I have to say I thought I saw a few ghosts after reading this book.
I loved the whole idea of this book. It was new and fresh and there was no straight line of good and evil. This I think is a love it or hate it type of book and I LOVED IT!...more

Jane is one of the best heroine's I've ever read, strong, funny and a little bit unsure of herself. She was the perfect mix of everything and she made me "bust a gut" to say the least.
All of the characters in these books were REALLY EASY to fall in love with. All of them had their own personalities and set themselves apart. I love when I get attached to characters and feel sad to say goodbye.
Overall this trilogy was a fun and light read. It lacked a little something for me hence the non 5 star rating but overall delightful!...more

This was another light fun read something I need more often then not to help with a long day/week/year.
Jane has been selected as the Maid of Honour at her best friend Zeb's wedding. A werewolf wedding no doubt and she seems to be caught up in the middle of all the politics that come with one wolfy wedding.
But there barely stands up to the problems with her family. Oh man I'd like to get my hands on one of them and smack them right into next week.
Again I found the plot a little lacking but AGAIN the characters more then made up for it. I'm getting attached to them and only have one more book to prepare myself for the goodbye. ...more

Jane was turned into a vampire after gettign shot by a drunk hunter. Right after that I knew I was going to love her. She was a hoot most of the time. Watching her deal with her vampirism and come to terms with it was somewhat inspiring.
Gabriel our hero was a little over protective of his "child" (being Jane) and it was kind of cute. Although we got to see another side of him as well. I'd take either... I'm not picky! ;)
We met some other enjoyable characters including - Jane's family, Zeb, Dick, Andrea, Missy and Aunt Jettie. I loved them all and that is what worked for me in this book. The story lacked a bit of development but I'm willing to overlook because I smiled so much while reading this one.
