How did I not give this book a chance before now?
Zevin, I’m sorry for underestimating you even after you’d been recommended to me numerous times. This book is amazing and I can’t wait to read more by you. ...more

It was great, but Elisa's weight insecurities can get to be a bit much. That being said, I love that they're in the book which is why I gave the book 4 stars. However, The Crown of Embers is 5 stars all the way! Elisa is my new favorite character...ever. What a strong, smart, honest, and flawed, but perfect MC! Rae Carson I don't know where you got the idea for Elisa, but I am forever grateful for this book that you have given the world! ...more

I actually didn't even know this book was supposed to be about hockey when I picked it up. I didn't even notice the little hockey players on the front... I bought the book because Backman blew me away with 'And Every Morning" and he did it again. I'm speechless. This needs to be a movie immediately! The subject matter is so timely and so well done. He really lets you see issues from every angle and it's beautiful. How does he do it? How does he make every character, even characters that only get one paragraph of story, feel completely real???
I'm mad that I finished it because I want to experience it all over again with brand new eyes. ...more

There I've said it! You happy, world? I'm a grown up, but I really don't want to be one & really don't know how to be one. I feel like just yesterday I was roaming the halls of my elementary school with my safety patrol sash and harry potter wand tucked in my back pocket. You know what, maybe I did do that yesterday... No no no. Yesterday I did my taxes because I'm a grown up. *insert barf sound* I love this book because it teaches you that adulthood can be fun! You don't have to have a job that you hate. You don't have to stay on one career track. And you don't have to feel guilty when you start a new hobby or project and end up hating it! This book helps you figure out the answer to the dreaded question "what do you want to be when you grow up." *Spoiler alert* The answer can just be as simple as idk! BUT Wapnick goes deeper than that and gives real advice. She's also incredibly skilled at being inclusive and not making me feel like a loser. Oh, and she includes activities for you to take what she's saying and apply it to your own life....more

There are so many little moments that are easy to overlook, but are so important.
Dec. 2016- Not going to lie I thought I hated this book while I was reading it. In the back of my mind I was telling myself to stop reading and just return it. For some reason I kept pushing on. Then it was over and I realized how much I love it. The book only takes about an hour to read, but if you're anything like me you'll want to read it over and over. It is a really beautiful book.
Caitlin Moran is rude and brass like an English Chelsea Handler, but she actually puts a strong message behind this book along with her life stories. She wants everyone in the world to believe in equal rights. She wants women to stop feeling pressured into thinking that they're not real women if they don't conform to the media's standards. She wants people to embrace feminism!...more
