His depiction of Trump Smart, compassionate and concern over social economic and political issues. So pretty much all the check boxes for SE's works. His depiction of Trump without calling him Trump is entertaining and if anything he understated the meltdown which would be coming if this all actually happened. Climate change, avarice, human trafficking and the general cruelty and indifference of our world forced to change in the blink of an eye.
There are flaws in his plans for this new world order or perhaps he simply thinks more of humanity than I do. I feel like the people still trying to exploit the system would be much more rigorous in their never ending efforts to seize power. Some people are merely sociopaths with no disorders or childhood trauma.

I almost gave up on this several times in the first half. It was a boring slog. Only because I've read so much of Abraham did I continue. The second half redeemed it but overall just meh for me. The fact that it was a book 1 redux from a different set of character's POV didn't help. ...more
4.5*. AT books tend to be ones I either love or I'm bored. Most take a while to figure out which way that will go. This was no exception but the slow 4.5*. Very informative. I did not know a lot of things within the LGBTQ community which trans people had to go through never mind with the woman's movement.Very informative. I've always viewed Costas and Couric together as a symbol of how plastic the media was in the 80's and forward. That's not to say I dislike either. JuI've always viewed Costas and Couric together as a symbol of how plastic the media was in the 80's and forward. That's not to say I dislike either. Just that I roll my eyes sometimes when they try to act like they're above the fray or the moral compass of the masses. It comes off pretentious, to me.
I was surprised there weren't more moments with Costas and Connie Chung whose careers overlapped in many way. I was sort of hoping there was either (or both) a tryst or major rivalry with Costas we didn't know about and in the case of Chung I was actually hoping they were allies. Diane Sawyer, Jane Palley and others do make the book more often than Costas and Chung.
I will give her a lot of credit for confronting the Matt Lauer issue head on, along with racism, LGBTQIA and how the media missed the boat in so many ways. I thought her take on me too issues was very honest. Those holy crap moments that range from that guy always was a creep to omg I never would have guessed must be really tough when you've had interactions for decades on a personal basis.
The family struggles were poignant and having faced many myself I deeply felt for her.
Although she talked about the rivalries with other female journalists and although it wasn't completely sugar coated I felt like this is the one area where she really didn't go there....more
