I thought Anthony Marra's story was well written and the narration was very good. I was totally drawn into this novella which surprised me that everything in the plot was incapsulated into the story.

Well, I am one for stating that I was not anticipating this story to be quite this good. It had all the makings of keeping this reader engaged. You had a beautiful but, dangerous heroine by the name of Lady Kaitlin “Kat” Montrose and a handsome lethal hero, Marcus Black...agent of the Crown. There is mystery, intrigue, murder, and twists and turns that kept me turning the pages. This is one historical suspense romance that lived up to the plot.
Lady Kaitlin Montrose, after the deaths of her parents when to live with her uncle, Victor. She has been trained by him since the age of eight to protect herself…familiarized and skilled with knives, shooting and the arts. Her uncle wanted her to be a well-rounded arsenal if needed. Unfortunately, when her uncle is killed by an assassin, the Chameleon, she vows at all costs to track him down and make him pay. Then there’s the handsome, Earl of Westwood, Marcus Black who is his own right can be just as deadly, seeks the assassin too…to avenge his brother’s and wife’s murders.
Oh, how I love a combat. When the two set out to retrieve a secret diary that could lead them to the Chameleon, an altercation ensues between the two where Kat is subsequently the victor after coming too intimately close to Marcus. There’s were the attracting starts to brew. Seeing how both realize they can do more together than solo. I thought both Kat and Marcus were loveable characters, and the sub-characters, Lucas and Etta did their part of providing more angst to the story with their banter. It is unfortunate that women in espionage still must prove themselves way too much to men and that was clearly shown in this story at times. In that retrospect, that is what I loved about Kat. She was strong, intelligent, and fearless in her pursuits of what she wanted to do.
Concluding, I thought this was a wonderfully written story that had to me more than one plot, action, twists, and intimacy that I like between the H/h in my historical romances. Recommend the read and looking forward to Lucas and Etta’s story which I am hoping to be a part of this series.

At firsJennifer Haigh is a first time author to this reader and the "Zenith Man", a part of the Amazon Original Inheritence Collection was very good. At first listen, I thought the novella was a bit strange as no one knew that, in 30 years the TV repair man, Harold Pardee had ever married or let alone had a wife. Rumors started to circulate the unthinkable because...everyone knows everyone's business.
Contrary to their beliefs, Harold had to prove that he was not a murderer and in the end, it took an Olympic athlete to help his cause. Hmmm, some secrets are just what they are...no one else's business.

I am reading this series as part of a challenge and this the first book, A Rebel Without A Rogue was okay for me. It is a story of revenge turned loved for both H/h. The story is well-written but a bit wordy and some parts of the story I overlooked as it didn't make much sense.
I gave this first story and average rating and look forward to the next in the series stepping up and engaging this reader. Note: Would love to audiobook this story to see if it more captivating and with a very good narrator.

“The Duke’s Accidental Bride” is a first time read by Eva Devon, new author to this reader. This story centers on Lady Jaqueline Peabody, who by all accounts is very upset with her brother’s childhood friend, now the Duke of Stone, who had taken it upon himself to become matchmaker to her sister and in the process ruining her life and thus leaves her as the sole source of income for her family’s monetary woes. Jacqueline “Jack” has to marry well and give up her aspirations of spinsterhood with her pianoforte.
James Haven, Duke of Stone has enough on his hands to go along with his roguish reputation. Although he doesn’t want to be shackled down, he fancies himself very successful in the matchmaking business and enjoys matching London’s most eligible ladies and gentlemen. So, when his friend’s little sister climbs into his bedroom seeking to give him a piece of mind for his interfering ways, Jack finds herself left in the hands of Stone to obtain a wealthy husband…problem? Stone is having a hard time finding her a husband and, in the process falling for this vixen that sparks his desires. Unfortunately, scandal rears its ugly head that leaves a rake entangled with a spirited lady.
This would have rated higher if not many holes left unanswered in the story. Lady Jack studied abroad for four years without family...hmm could have been the cause to her high spiritedness and wanting to remain a spinster. This was not clearly addressed. In the case of Stone’s reluctance to marrying…did it have to do with his father’s illness (precept of Alzheimer) and believing it hereditary, thus his avoidance to marriage. In any case, the getting to the marriage took quite a bit of time in the story that I found myself saying “hurry it up already”. These are the “what I didn’t like” about this story.
In the end, the trope of friends-to-lovers is evident. There were some steamy moments between the main characters who are very likeable individuals and both figuring it all out to get to that HEA. It didn’t hurt to have Olivia and Alexander’s characters build towards the story. A well-written, entertaining and enjoyable read.

He is sent on the trail of Thaniel Vargas, who is always causing trouble, especially with Lilah Jones who he believes is a witch with all his superstition. Lilah lives alone in the backwaters of Alabama on a river bank. She could read auras, just as her mother and her mother’s mother. The house she lives in has no electricity, plumbing or heat, however she lives peacefully without a care. While on his trail of a murder mystery, he finds himself drawn and captivated under the spell of the Lilah. The H/H did not waste any time becoming intimate as the passion was definitely there between the two. She is beautiful and mysterious…and for Brody he was going to find it very hard to give her up.
Blue Moon is a very short novella. This is a first read by Linda Howard for me and I found her story to be nice and entertaining. I am guessing that this is an earlier novel of hers as the read had some grammatical errs that a times made it hard to understand the intent of the thought. Would I read more from this author…..yes. I truly enjoyed the read.

Love Letters by the Sea (A Siren’s Retreat #4) by Erica Ridley is a lovely novella that made me smile and fall in love with the individuals falling in love. I read this story in one sitting and enjoyed the premise of being courted through love letters. Deborah Cartwright who is 5-years widowed and as with others who frequent the Siren’s Retreat, have no expectations of falling in love until the finding love happens. She is the proprietress of the Siren’s Retreat and places all her energy on running the inn for lovers that she and her deceased husband built. Her only respite is corresponding to Lost in London which brings happiness to her heart. Receiving word that he will be visiting Brighton, she is thrilled to be finally meeting her correspondent. Unknowingly, Mr. Patrick Gretham has other intentions…one to purchase the Retreat for his wealthy employer to turn it into a gambling establishment. The two pen-pals come face to face in a battle to do what they believe is right, but doesn’t factor in love in the process.
I love this trope of friends to enemies and enemies to lovers. A slow-burn historical romance where I enjoyed the fact that the main characters appreciated one another qualities and views, however not risking their love for one another in the process . Although I am reading each novella as a standalone, this was a cute and happy ending to this series. Recommend reading the series.
