Like the Little People, authors like Murakami create something new seemingly out of thin air into something slightly rooted in reality, like an air chrysalis. Aomame and Tengo are lovable characters. There is definitely some fat that could have probably been trimmed off this book, but I think in general all the extended passages that usually contributed to Murakami's use of analogy or foreboding work really well. BUT there are def some sus things said about young women's bodies that are not very cool and honestly take away from the beauty of the nonsexual prose of this novel. Overall def worth the read...more
