The second romantic book in Abby Jimenez’s The Friend Zone series is a captivating and engaging read on grief, loss and the music industry. Sloan, who we met in the first book in the series, gets a chance at her own happily ever after story. Will she be able to move on after the death of her fiancée or will grief continue to rule her life? I loved the insight into some of the many pitfalls and challenges that musicians and their families face when touring. The author has created characters that the reader wants to root for and I loved Jason’s backstory. Tucker is a wonderful foil for the storyline to introduce Sloan and Jason. I am definitely hoping that we see more of Jason and Sloan and Josh and Kristen in the next book- they are wonderfully romantic, yet believable, couples....more

This book is a love story to Paris. If you have ever been or hope to visit in the future, it is a wonderful description of the spirit of Paris and its many varied people. I loved the setting of the bookstore and appreciated the sense of wonder of the story and the love relationship. I did find Sarah in some ways unbelievably naive and some of the employees of the bookshop hard to fathom and understand but loved how the new experiences helped develop Sarah’s character. If you are looking for a book featuring one of my favourite places, a book shop, or Paris, then this is an enjoyable and entertaining read....more

I laughed and I cried while reading this fabulous romantic book. It is both a heartbreaking and an uplifting story; much like real life. The story is told in the first person using alternating chapters for the two lead characters; Kristen and Josh. I love how good the author is at giving both the female and male perspective not only on everyday life, but on social issues, including grief, loss and infertility. I highly recommend any of Abby Jimenez’s books if you are looking for a well written, realistic and thoughtful book that leaves you with a heartwarming experience....more

Emily is still heartbroken over the callous letter that Bennett sent her before he married another. Is Bennett married or is there an alternative reason for his freeing Emily? This story made me cry and than smile at the turn of events. I found it to be an entertaining short read that was perfect for the hectic holiday season.

What a sweet yet hotly romantic book that, just like the first book in the series, tackled a number of social issues including anxiety in both a thoughtful and respectful way. This is a fabulous sequel to Part of Your World as it follows Alexis’s best friend Briana but it can be read as a standalone. I loved the characterizations of both Briana and Jacob and their relationship story. I felt the fear and the love and can’t i found the story mesmerizing. I can’t wait to read this summer’s book by the same author in the series, Just for the Summer. I am looking forward to another fabulous and emotional story. ...more

The two main characters, Daniel and Alexis, were absolutely loveable and believable and who were, ultimately, both willing to compromise to make a relationship work. The chemistry between the two was scorching. I loved the magical quality of the story, the development of Alexis as a person and the town of Wakan. I could feel the love of the inhabitants. I laughed and I cried and ultimately I smiled at the wonderful ending. This was my first read of a book by Abby Jimenez- it definitely will not be my last....more

The first book in a new to me series finds a British teacher, Max, drawn into a complex case when one of his students is murdered. Is he innocent and just trying to help solve the murder or is he actually a suspect? There are twists and turns in the story and more bodies but Max is determined to get to the bottom of the deaths. I loved the witty and sarcastic characters, especially Max, and the author has done a great job of plotting the crimes and the solution. I can’t wait to read the next book in this riveting, quirky and interesting series....more

Will they survive? Will either of them end up with their betrothed? This is a sometimes heartbreaking and other times inspiring tale of loss, redemption and love. I loved the chemistry that the author developed in this book and the heat that ensued. I appreciated the personalities that were developed and although I initially found the hero’s responses to the tragedy and his part in such somewhat callous the author did give the reader a reason and explanation for the lack of empathy. I loved that LOVE triumphed and admired how the hero and his father both realized the error of their ways. All in all, I found this a very emotional and riveting read.
