Claimed is the second novel in the Servants of Fate Trilogy. Being honest, I was least excited to read this book, neither Galena Margolis or Declean Ferry are my favorite characters. However, I was VERY surprised by how their story actually unfolded.
First things first, this story started with a boom... and I mean literally. It opens up with those connected to Galena's research being attacked by bombings: [image]
Cross My Heart was no epic tale but it was sweet and wholesome which sometimes is what we need, even if we don't always know it.
This story although sCross My Heart was no epic tale but it was sweet and wholesome which sometimes is what we need, even if we don't always know it.
This story although short took me a while to get through only because I felt L.H. Cosway had cheated Liam out of a book and just couldn't wrap my head around it. I was so excited at the end of Hearts of Blue to get his story but I guess I can't complain a story is a story after all.
I'll keep things short and sweet just like Cross My Heart!
I like the dynamic between Liam (a once criminal now a cop) to Iris who hasn't really known the right side of the law in her life. I felt their love story was realistic and developed in a way that was believable. I really liked the fact that their was no insta-love or deep confession of love. You were aware of how much the characters cared for one another and could see the love grow between them overtime.
Liam was a great male character but I do wish we got more of him. He was characterized through Iris's point of view and Lee's small insight on his brother, which was very sweet!
Now Iris the woman of the hour and is the reason my rating is so high!
That woman if she were real I'd hunt her down and befriend her, she could live at my place! I felt her character was vibrant, strong, and heart breaking. I loved her back story and felt she was a realist with just the right amount of corky to still be optimistic about life. I found being in her head humorous and tragic and once nearly cried for the immense amount of happiness and positivity that was coming her way!
I loved the characters and genuinely enjoyed the story! I just could not stop hoping for certain things to happen and develop further, which was not possible in 100 pages. So I guess what I'm trying to say is I liked Cross My Heart but I would have loved it had it been a novel....more

Yes, Hearts of Blue I love you! I love your story I love your humor I love your heart I love your angst I love your heat I love the beautiful souls you hold in your pages Yes, Hearts of Blue I love you... do you understand?(Arrow inside joke ;))
Hearts of Blue is a stand alone novel, but we are first introduced to Karla and Lee in King of Hearts, but you can get away with reading the series on it's own without that small introduction. There are so many things that I want to stay but I am at a lose for words as to how. This book touched my heart in a way that I thought was impossible after Six of Hearts, but somehow it has and I am so happy for it.
"If I wasn't me and you weren't you, I'd go home with you in a heartbeat. You know that, right?"... "It's because you're you and I'm me that we want each other, Karla. And I wouldn't have it any other way." The story-line and romance are one in the same for Hearts of Blue, it's the badass version of Rome and Juliet, a star crossed love between a cop and a criminal. Both Karla and Lee are from two different worlds but their souls speak the same language. Their is a deep connection between the two of them that neither can deny, but in order for them to be together they must both step into another world.
"So I guess when I look at you, I see a little piece of myself, but braver." Karla Sheehan is a born and bred cop through and through. She's not a cop for the fame or the excitement, Karla wants to help people and make a difference in the world and she found her calling. Karla is a strong female character, she stood for what she believed in, but she also had an open mind to the fact that the world is not always black and white. I loved Karla's character and her sweet and strong nature, she's a real life Wonder Woman.
"Sometimes the innocent ones are guilty only because the world didn't give them a chance to stay innocent." Lee Cross is a beautiful soul, a real life Robin Hood. I knew I would love him from the moment Alexis described him as "... the sexier, grown-up version of the Artful Dodger", and I definitely wasn't wrong. Lee stand's for honor, family, and survival, his way of life is not a choice but a necessity. We never choose the life we are given, simply make do with what we got, and that's exactly what Lee did for himself and his family. It's hard not to respect and fall in love with a precious soul like Lee's.
Now I know this is overkill and I used this word probably a thousand times but this book... [image]
After having this novel for seven months. I finally set aside time (or more like the universe gave me time) and finished it.
Was it Amazing? Meh Was itAfter having this novel for seven months. I finally set aside time (or more like the universe gave me time) and finished it.
Was it Amazing? Meh Was it life-altering? Meh Was it earth shattering, eye opening, incredible? ... Meh
It was however good, especially in the moment!
It was great to be with Elena and Raphael again and while I had been crossing my fingers and toes for a baby. Alas, it was not written in the stars for these two quite yet, but best believe I am still holding out hope! Crossing all my fingers and toes, twice!
Singh always does an amazing job with the mystery component in her paranormal romance. In my opinion Archangel's Heart, while very intriguing and turn paging, I felt it fell short in comparison to her other mystery aspects in the Guild Hunter series. In fact, I guessed the outcome of the plot from the beginning.
Major Positive: I am so happy that Aodhan got some serious screen time! I love the fact that Singh is allowing her readers to get to know Sparkle and not just the angel he was before, but the angel he is turning into.
Overall, I feel Archangel's Heart was a filler novel and didn't really do anything to propel the series forward. It was still enjoyable and I am very excited to get Viper's novel! Out of all the Seven Singh has kept him mostly in the background, so it will be very interesting to finally get his POV on things and to see him fall in love, of course! ...more

Marked by Sarah Fine ca5 OUTSTANDING STARS
WOW... just wow, I literally am searching for the right words, like Velma searching for her glasses. [image]
Marked by Sarah Fine came into my life when I was ready to give up on books. I don't really mean that literally, because reading is my life. However, I was searching for that epic read where your heart soars, the main characters journey means more to you then life itself, and you never want it to end. WELL HELLO WORLD I FOUND IT! [image]
Marked is set in futuristic Boston, following the world of the living and the dead and those who are in control of the afterlife. This book had me gripped with emotion from the Prologue, I was invested in the romance after Chapter Two and the author's overall writing style was beautiful and poetic. Do NOT EVEN get me started on the world building or the complex characters and their character development.
This novel was like an emotional roller coaster and when you expected a certain outcome... SURPRISE! Sarah Fine twist the story in another direction. Marked had all the beats: Epic Love, Angst, Mystery, and Drama. I never wanted to leave the futuristic world of Boston, fortunately for me Servants of Fate is a Trilogy and I can't wait to dive into Book 2!!! image: [image]...more
When I read the synopsis and started it, I thought is this really by Tiffany Reisz? But then I got to the the ending and I was like: Yup, no this all When I read the synopsis and started it, I thought is this really by Tiffany Reisz? But then I got to the the ending and I was like: Yup, no this all her!
A very different read for Mrs. Tiffany Reisz. I was so shocked that this novel had nothing to do with her main characters from the Original Sinners Series, and is what compelled me to read it. Gwendolyn Ashby, is very similar to her main heroine from her previous series, Eleanor but only in small ways. I was utterly shocked how vanilla this book was, it had no kink, it was traditional, and did not make me feel uncomfortable in the least... So not like the Tiffany Reisz that her Sinner fans know. Do not get me wrong, this book was not bad at all for these reasons, her audience just got to see a different side of this author that most of us have never seen.
This novel was very thorough, well written, and just simply amazing. The fact that she was able to do so much in a novella just shows how strong her skills are in writing. I did not like the insta love, and I thought the characters could of used a bit more character development (especially Edwin). However that is no fault in hers, but in the length of the novel. I have no doubt that if she chose to write a longer piece, she would have definitely solved some of the minor issues I had with the book.
The ending was absolutely phenomenal, it must have took one hell of an outline, and a great idea. I definitely did not foresee that the outcome of the novel would end like THAT! But well it did, and that's Tiffany Reisz for ya' people! The ending was absolutely perfect, it was a work of art, and is mostly what the rating of the book is based on. All in all I am so happy I decided to read this short story, because Tiffany Reisz did not let me down at all.
P.S. honestly if Gwendolyn was real I would have definitely wanted to be her friend here's why:
Quotes (by Gwendolyn Ashby)
-"'Every book I'll ever need? Sounds like Heaven," she said with a smile. "It's a library," he said. "To me it's the same thing." That was the moment Gwen knew she had to stay at this school the rest of her life. These were her people."
-"But books saved me. I know that sounds silly and glib. But I lost myself in books. Read constantly. I was a glutton for fiction. Any world was better than my own."
-"But I wasn't hiding, I was healing. Those stories made me believe bad things happened for a reason and good things happened if you kept going all the way to the end."
