This has always been one of my favourites of the series. I just love the political side of how Umbridge got forced into the school, and now they all just have to deal with her.

It was my least fav movie, but that was just because I didn't like what they left out / changed compared to the book.
You are not alone I have meet many who say they didn't like this book as much as the others. I think part of the reason this is the first book where they are treated as more then children as nearly full fledged wizards. They also realize they are pretty much alone as no one can help them there support network is slowly being taken away from them piece by piece.
The writing style is very careless.
JK Rowling consistent use of adverbs, (8 -10) a page is something that Stephen King warned not to do, if one wants to be a serious writer.
Hagrid's tale didn't add anything to the story.

I feel the same way! I just finished my third reread and I always said this was my second least favorite after chamber of secrets but I enjoyed it this time so much more I don’t even know What’s happening 😅🙈 I hated reading about Umbridge especially because she never really got what she deserved, but there was so much I had missed tiny hints and details that were so funny, I actually laughed out loud sometimes 😅
This was my least favorite, too! I'd actually never reread it cover to cover - just did in a reread of the whole series and I think it might be tied for my favorite book now! I wonder why....
