As with most books I'm finding that you really have to be in the mood for what they offer to really enjoy them. I was/am apparently, really in the mood for a dark, gritty UF. I can generally only really enjoy a book if there is a good romance along with a good plot but found I didn't need it with this book. There is some romance but it's secondary.

It really does have a comic book feel in novel form, surprisingly enough, and I wasn't sure that was something I would like. It ends up giving it a unique feel that was refreshing. I also love the world building, although, I'm hoping for more back story in the next book as it was a little complicated. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
