Forever Peace

Despite the title and the way it was listed and marketed, Forever Peace is not a sequel to The Forever War, but rather a re-consideration of the themes and ideas presented in the earlier book after two decades of introspective pondering and consideration. I thought it lacked the punch of the first book, and Haldeman's style had evolved significantly with more descriptive phrases and side-narratives, but once the reader gets past the idea that they're reading a continuation of the original narrative, and accepts that it is rather a thematic parallel, it's a thought-provoking and captivating story.
