Wayyy too long for me but 3 stars! Decent hockey romance with a solid plot, spice, and character building but the MMC was definitely too much of a jerk for my taste at the beginning. The third act break up was a bit of an eye roll and 100% needed more groveling. Also the storyline about his mom being horrible because she loved designer and luxury goods only for him to also be obsessed with designer and luxury??? Lol. It did not make sense whatsoever.

Edit: Also just realized the FMC was Black after reading another comment. I must’ve skipped the description of her dad. But if you’re gonna make her Black then add a few more things in there than just racially ambiguous girl. I could’ve sworn she was just a white woman with 2b curly hair the whole time with how they described her. And now some of the story lines kind of make me cringe (her loving thrift shops as a personality trait, her white mom berating her looks, the body posi discussions, etc.). It’s a bit more coded now so maybe 2.5.
