I am currently on the hunt for a pirate romance so I was excited to read this. I feel like 3 star is a bit generous… but also I didn’t hate this book? I just had a hard time getting into some of the themes. I’m not sure I would consider this a dark romance for MYSELF but the smut was weird at times and some descriptors kinda make me feel icky.
The characters are fun, I just feel like we don’t get too much out of them. This is something I’ve experienced before with standalone novels! There wasn’t any emotional love that ✨made sense✨. It all seemed so quick and irrational and we don’t learn too much about the characters for us to grow attached to them. However it is a quick easy read with a lot of smut if that’s something you’re into. I don’t judge. 🫡
I do feel like this book had lots of potential with pirates, monsters, and some morally grey men with tragic backstories. It just didn’t reach the mark for me. I can understand thought why someone may enjoy it.
I sailed the high seas with this novel but I will now be DISEMBARKING. Farewell. 💀⚔️⚓️🌊🪸🐚🧜🏻♀️

Ya it’s a no for me - I need that emotional connection and not a fan of icky smut. UHG our search for a treasure of a book must sail on ⛵️🏴☠️

You perfectly described how I felt about this book too
100% agree with everything you said. The romance seemed weirdly quick to me as well. I wouldn't even consider this "enemies to lovers" at least it didn't feel like that to me.
