This is a comprehensive and complete biography of Martin Van Buren, the man credited with popularizing party politics.
Not much time is spent on his family life which isn't too much of a problem for me. Since the Andrew Jackson biography I read delt too much on his personal life and view, I enjoyed the political focus and commentary of Buren's motives and goals.
