Hayden has always felt like she is in competition with hockey for her father's attention. He owns a Chicago hockey team, and it has always been his pride and joy. When Hayden is visiting her father, she meets Brody Croft one night in a bar, and takes him home with her and they share a night of steamy sex. She then discovers he is a player on her dad's team, and things get a bit complicated - especially because she is currently on a "break" with her on-again, off-again boyfriend back home.
I'm not the biggest fan of the cheating trope and I PERSONALLY think that if you're on a "break" you're still in a relationship and shouldn't be off sleeping with other people but maybe that's just me... I did like Brody as a love interest, and I wish Hayden had just been straight up and honest about her feelings toward him. I do think that they had a lot of chemistry, but some of the dialogue was very cringy and made me get the ick a bit. I did like the side plot of the betting-scandal, although it was quite predictable - it was a nice to focus on something other than the romance at times.
It is a very quick read, so if you're looking for something you can finish in one sitting, this would be a great pick!
