Lydia, who pukes into potted plants when she has to go to parties (mood) has been in secret correspondence with a hot earl in Scotland. He’s broke and she’s rich so she decides to go propose so she can hang out with her friend and do whatever she wants forever (mood). This goes sideways when she shows up to the estate and it’s overrun with non-native fauna and not-penpals (…mood). There is, however, a brother who is in turn crabby, exhausted, kind, and stupid-down-bad-pathetic. Will our girl Lyds find her happily ever after? This is a romance novel so sure, but man, the course of true love never did run smooth (even in novels). (There is a weapons theft.) (And interfering servants.) (Also zebras but they seem chill, honestly.)
