This Friday, July 10th, Tarantino’s Jackie Brown will play for a week at The Galleria Cinema in St. Louis For more info and showtimes, go Here
When Jackie Brown was released 23 years ago expectations were off the charts. It had been three and a half long years since Quentin Tarantino had rocked the movie world with the one-two punch of Reservoir Dogs (1992) and Pulp Fiction (1994). Since then he had laid relatively low, directing a segment of the anthology Four Rooms, writing the vampire hybrid From Dusk Til Dawn, and performing several forgettable “acting” roles (remember Destiny Turns On The Radio? ……didn’t think so.) I remember my own expectations and anticipation for Jackie Brown when I first heard that Tarantino had cast ebony action icon Pam Grier in the lead. I assumed that he was going to take...

Every major actor and actress in Bollywood will at one stage attempt the double role. It is up there on every distinguished star’s curriculum vitae. There a countless examples Hum Dono (Dev Anand), Ram aur Shyam (Dilip Kumar), Seeta aur Geeta (Hema Malini), Apu Raja (Kamal Hassan), Chaalbaaz (Sri Devi), Kishan Kanhaiya (Anil Kapoor) and many many more. In addition to these we have Amitabh Bachchan’s own contributions to the double role genre, but to celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema and its great tradition of double roles, we thought we would choose a slightly different film – Mahaan.
A triple role! Now that is is a completely different level and there is only one actor, the superstar of Indian cinema, who has truly attempted and achieved that – Amitabh Bachchan. Father, son and son – that was Mahaan. The father donned a beard, one son a moustache, the other clean shaven.

Amitabh Bachchan recently cut short a trip to Europe to visit his doctor in Mumbai following a recurrence of the stomach pains that saw him hospitalised last year. "I drove straight to my doctor on arrival late last night and after some external physical examinations was subjected to Ct scans," he explained. "The results do not show anything, but the trouble exists, albeit on a much smaller scale than the last time. I do not think that there is a need for alarm, but I do not want to take chances."
Despite being 66-years-old, Amitabh continues to work very hard. The movie Zamaanat in which he plays a blind lawyer will be released later this year.
