Thank you to the community members who joined us for our “In the Kitchen” and court ribbon cutting event at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center. Recently, the Humana Foundation awarded the Louisville Urban League (LUL) a $217,000 grant for 12 new indoor hard courts for sports like pickleball, volleyball or basketball at the center. These courts will offer people across Louisville the opportunity to engage in some of the fastest growing sports in America at one of Louisville’s premier athletic facilities. Raising awareness and spreading hope—Tuesday evening, Humana hosted an inspiring event at the Grand Ole Opry, honoring Face The Fight™ and aiming to shed a light on the mental health crisis affecting veterans. Though mental health and wellness affect us all, it especially impacts the brave men and women in the United States military community. Since 2001, more than 120,000 veterans have died by suicide, 1.5 times the rate of the general population. Humana and the Humana Foundation work alongside USAA, Reach Resilience and more than 170 other organizations as part of the Face The Fight™ coalition to show support and advocate for the care of the military community. During the event at the Opry, Humana recognized USAA’s Justin Schmitt with the Humana Boots on the Ground Award for leading the way on this meaningful initiative. In a new study from Humana Healthcare Research, our researchers found that patients of senior-focused primary care clinics had more visits with their primary care doctor. These effects were even greater among Black and low-income Medicare Advantage beneficiaries.
