We all want our homes to look as cool as they feel, but most home climate systems are an eyesore. With Quilt, you don’t have to choose between aesthetics and performance—our units are designed to blend into any room in your home. Our friend Leah Harmatz, San Francisco interior designer, talked to Sunset Magazine about how she transformed the Quilt Home. Leah's magic touch seamlessly blended Quilt units into the space, showing that climate control can actually elevate your home’s design. Her pro tip? Thoughtful placement matters. “The instinct is to center [the unit] on a wall or over a bed, but I find it looks more natural and subtle to place it to one side. Then art can be strategically hung to balance out the other side and becomes more of a focal point.” Thanks Kelsey Mulvey for this excellent piece filled with practical tips! On Tuesday the New York Times published Christopher Flavelle's painful experience getting a heat pump this summer. It's been making waves. It reminded me a lot Massachusetts state Senator and electrification supporter William Brownsberger's 2023 post recounting his own heat pump adoption pains. These experiences are real. And they are especially hard to read coming from electrification supporters who were just trying to do the right thing. But also everything Chris experienced is *exactly why Quilt exists*. Before starting Quilt I went through a similar experience. I had to call 4 contractors before finding one who would even sell me a heat pump. Here's the idea that became Quilt: - Heat pumps replacing furnaces is a requirement for solving the defining problem of our time, Climate Change. - But there is a *ton* of friction around upgrading – from market disinformation, to the purchase experience to the product experience, the whole thing kind of sucks. - Despite all this friction, heat pumps are still outselling furnaces due to policy push. - What would happen if we removed all the friction? The transition would move a lot faster. But better yet, what if we not only removed the friction, but added another force, a consumer *pull*, by creating an awesome product that people really want? Then things would truly take off. If Christopher Flavelle could have been a Quilt customer (we're not in D.C. yet unfortunately), here's how his experience would have been different: - He would have known the all-in price upfront, including rebates, before having to talk to anyone. - No salesperson would have tried to talk him out of it. He would be able to research everything online and speak with someone highly knowledgable in the true state of the technology. - He wouldn't have to navigate the "maze of rebates" at all: we take them off the cost *at point of sale*. Recouping the rebate is our problem, not yours. - He would have had the highest efficiency product on the market, so not only would he have qualified for the higher rebate, he would save more money every month. - There would have been no holes left in his wall he would have to find & pay another contractor to fix. We deal with all that. - He would have no noise complaints. Our units are *remarkably* quiet, much quieter than any central AC you are used to. - He would have room-by-room control, which not only improves comfort and efficiency, he could adopt over time to spread out the cost. He could start with a single room for only $3800 after rebate, or maybe two (living room and bedroom?) for $10,300: much less than he paid. Today in things we love to see: Andy Lubershane’s Substack detailing how HVAC is “the next frontier.” “I’m convinced that step-changes in HVAC efficiency are some of the biggest levers we have for smoothing the global path to decarbonization,” Andy writes. “Heating and cooling efficiency are both crucial, albeit for different reasons…” Andy also highlighted our new efficiency metrics that make us the most efficient 2-zone heat pump on the market. "I really can’t overemphasize how remarkable this is. Quilt is a two year old startup company which managed to build the most efficient mini-split on the market…and this data doesn’t even account for the fact that Quilt comes with sensing, controls, and intelligence which makes the product even more efficient.” Check out the whole piece on Andy’s Substack here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gYaWBdZF

When skateboarding legend Tony Hawk set out to surprise his friend Tim Olson by transforming his detached garage into a mid-century modern editing studio, he faced a common problem: extreme temperatures that made the space almost unusable. That’s where Quilt came in. 🛠️Teaming up with Drew Scott and Jonathan Scott (aka the Property Brothers) on HGTV's "Celebrity IOU" Tony helped turn Tim's garage from a neglected storage room into a workspace where he can edit skate videos, repair skateboards, and relax. ❄️ The Property Brothers chose Quilt to keep Tim's new office comfortable year-round. Quilt is perfect for single spaces like garages, and it’s also super efficient with smart features like occupancy detection, schedules, and control from anywhere via the app. ✨ Tim’s new space now features a sleek Quilt Indoor Unit with a customizable white oak panel, blending seamlessly into his mid-century modern aesthetic. It also comes with a built-in accent light to illuminate the new gallery wall. Whether it's a single room or your entire house, Quilt upgrades any space into a comfortable, creative haven. To see how Quilt can elevate your home, watch the latest episode of "Celebrity IOU" on HGTV, Max, and Apple TV, and learn more here 👉 https://lnkd.in/ggTy9EYQ

“You could call me a design snob in some ways, but nothing is worse than having a beautifully curated space and then adding an eyesore, like an old bulky heat pump that doesn't fit the aesthetic,” renovation expert and Quilt investor and advisor Drew Scott told Megan Slack for Homes & Gardens. “With Quilt, you enjoy a good design along with function, flow, and style.” We prioritized the design of our 2-zone heat pump system (the *most* efficient on the market) to make it something people want to have in their homes — never an eyesore. This design sensibility is, in part, what brought Scott on board as a Quilt evangelist. “It's low profile; it has a light underneath, and you can swap out the face plate on it, whether you want to tie it to the color of the wall or have some sort of a mural,” he said. We’re honored to have the support of a pro with such good taste. Read the rest of Scott’s interview in the link below.  https://lnkd.in/gH6YrZQ9

🔔 We just broke the record for the most efficient 2-zone heat pump! 🔔 AHRI rated the Quilt system at a SEER2 of 25 and an HSPF2 of 12. And we’re certified by ENERGY STAR, too. For context, the most advanced heat pump systems achieve SEER2 ratings between 17 to 24 and HSPF2 ratings between 8 and 11. Quilt's are higher. Congratulations to the Quilt team for building the most efficient 2-zone heat pump on the market in just 2 years! What do these new efficiency metrics mean? 🔥 Major savings: Quilt qualifies for every rebate and incentive available. We offer point-of-sale rebates so homeowners pay less at checkout, making energy-efficient heat pumps more accessible. ❄️ Reduced emissions: Heat pumps have the potential to reduce CO2 emissions by at least 500 million tonnes in 2030, according to estimates from the IEA. These estimates are based on market-average heat pumps, with efficiency ratings, often nearly half that of Quilt’s new efficiency metrics. Quilt's 2-zone heat pump, with a SEER2 of 25, represents the potential to reduce carbon emissions even more massively. These ratings only scratch the surface of Quilt’s holistic efficiency. With intelligent room-by-room control, Quilt adjusts to the needs of each room and automatically switches to Eco Mode when spaces are unoccupied. This drives real-world efficiency far higher than these already exceptional baseline metrics. Efficiency. Comfort. Fossil fuel free. Our CEO Paul Lambert joined other heat pump experts to tout the many (yes, MANY) benefits of installing a heat pump in your home. As he puts it, “Heat pumps are the most efficient and comfortable way to heat and cool your home. Since they’re all-electric and don’t require fossil fuels, you’ll save money and reduce the climate impact of your home.” Get the low-down on the system that earns high praise in Natasha Brinsmead's Homes & Gardens piece 👇
