The inconvenient truth about UX job postings If you’re looking for your next UX job, don’t be fooled by sheer volume. Many job postings are inaccurate and misleading. For example, a job may be listed as “UX designer” when really they’re looking for a “UI designer”. Or, the job description may seem perfect, but the company’s culture is far from what you want. So, how do you judge UX job postings? - Be wary of vague job titles. - Scan the job description for specific tasks and responsibilities. - Research the company’s reputation and culture. Remember, quality beats quantity. Don’t waste your time on a job that isn’t a good fit. Be discerning and don’t settle. We have so many product design role names that it’s confusing not only to non-designers but also to the designers themselves 😅 - Product Designer - UX/UI Designer - UX Designer - UI Designer - Product Experience Designer - Interaction Designer - Service Designer - Interface Designer - Web designer - … Some of these roles are getting separated because of the skillset required. For example, UX and UI. But some of them are just different names for the same thing. So what can we do with all this? These are just names. We should focus more on the responsibilities and what we can do for our customers and business. I think this naming issue was driven by the super fast growth of the Tech industry in the previous decade, and now things are going slower and more consciously. All these redundancies across different companies, hiring freezes, fewer design roles, and the boost of AI are all signals of transformation. Once again, don’t think a lot about the names, focus on the impact you can deliver 🚀 #uxui #productdesign #futureofdesign

This has been a hot topic in the design world. There's been a lot of discussion about the role of junior designers in the industry. It's clear that there are plenty of talented juniors out there, but it seems like many companies aren't fully tapping into their creativity and fresh perspectives. Thanks to ⚡️Zander Whitehurst for raising this important issue. I believe it's time for companies to start embracing the potential of junior designers and giving them real opportunities to contribute to project development and success. And also, when it comes to hiring designers, location shouldn't be a deal-breaker. If someone's the right fit for a remote position, let's give them a chance, regardless of where they're based. This kind of "content" makes me unfollow people. Zander is great at making short design videos and brand-building but also created a company that sells training to juniors. This post is pandering and comment-bait with zero insight. Is an all-senior approach a "mega-problem"? For whom? For juniors who finish Memorisely courses, perhaps. Businesses struggling for cash and funding (just like talent struggling with layoffs) need results, fast. Their behaviour makes complete sense.
