The impermanence or `fugitive' qualities of the popular Alizarin Crimson PR83 were discussed last week. Actually there is no such thing as a `Permanent' version because all such alternatives are not Alizarin Crimson but different pigments. They ought really to be described as `Alizarin Crimson Hue', the key word being `hue'. Those paints intended as alternatives to the Cadmiums are thus described. Also if you use a reference photo for your artwork and it has a lot of black background a dark color mix is much more artistic than plain black. Black will become dull when it is dry. Instead a dark mix from black and other colors will add more life to the painting. In this mix you can use Black or Payne’s gray Rose-Red such as Madder lake or Alizarin crimson Blue such as ultramarine For How To Make Crimson Red Paint, How To Make Dark Red Paint, Mixing Watercolors, Magical Watercolor, Color Mixing Chart Acrylic, Alizarin Crimson, Red Paint Colors, Dark Blue Paint, Cupcake Logo

Purcell Family on Instagram: "I always have trouble enunciating “Alizarin” for some reason. It’s one of those words that I stumble over. Tela is always near to help me out.

Tela talks about the primary colours:

1) Red (Alizarin Crimson)
2) Yellow (Cadmium)
3) Blue (Ultramarine Blue, the ultra blue, the true blue)

Tela advises these need to be “true” primaries, not other varieties of red, yellow, and blue (of which there is an extensive list).

From these primaries we can derive secondary colours that include orange (red+yellow), green (yellow + blue) and purple (red+blue)… and from the secondary colours we can further derive tertiary colours with more or less of each primary.

She also talks about the bands of colours of the rainbow and she remembers it as “Run Off You Great Big Vandal Tela, Alizarin Crimson, Colours Of The Rainbow, Tertiary Color, Ultra Blue, Primary Colours, Ultramarine Blue, Green Yellow Blue, Painting Process
