Keltie Ferris is known for large paintings that lap, layer upon layer, into glimmering pictorial spaces; like her, they are utterly debonair. Last month she debuted Body Prints at Chapter NY, surprising new works which, as the title suggests, are impressions of her body on paper.
Yves Klein created a performance piece in the sixties entitled "Anthropometries", or "Visual Measurements of the Human Body" in which he used the female body as the paintbrush. In this piece, the female body is used simply as an object. The female body in this instance has no will other than the artist's.
