Back in the days before Photoshop and home computing, typesetters kept their characters in these wooden trays. We found this one in an antique shop somewhere and my wife has turned it into a Knick-Knack tray that hangs on our great room wall. I spent a few years sitting at a tray just like this, setting type for "hand lettered" certificates. It was not a lot of fun, but somehow, this tray, while reminding me of a far harder life, still makes me smile.
