Bring some natural elegance to your day with gifts from the sea! Dentalium shells were once prized by many Native American tribes as valuable trade goods and currency, and they are still sought today by collectors, artisans and traditionalists for their historic value and beauty. (The historic shells are from a different, larger animal than the ones that are commonly used today.) These earrings are part of a collection I designed while working as an Indigenous costumed interpreter. I was creating jewelry for myself that would be acceptable for the mid 1800's time period and to open up the discussion about jewelry and what might be considered valuable in the mid-1800's in this area. The earrings shown reflect a more modern take than what would normally have been seen back then, but the materials were close enough to begin the conversation! No returns or exchanges on earrings, but please let me know if any issues arise. These shells are fragile. Keep out of reach of small children and pets, as broken shells are quite sharp! I make all my art myself! If you have any questions about materials, my process or anything, please feel free to ask me in a message. I will get back to you as soon as possible. My name is Christina, I am a member of Montana First Nation in Alberta (Cree), and I reside in Edmonton, where I create all my art at home. I strive to create long-lasting, high quality, wearable Indigenous artwork, and I am inspired by both modern and historic styles. kitatamihin! Thank you for your interest!
